We paid rs. 8000 for the one night in a valley view cottage. We felt bad as my parents paid for us to go for three nights as a Christmas present, but we've never told them we only stayed the one night. Or given them the money back!

For us yes, most definitely. We didn't like the fact that everything is organised - we thought it would be a vast reserve that you could go off exploring but it's not.

There was a 'highest point' walk at 5pm, henna hand painting at 3pm, lunch at 1pm, dinner at 7pm, bonfire at 8.30pm, waterfall walk in the morning at 6.30, breakfast at 8am etc which wasn't what we expected.

It is a beautiful place with the most amazing views and we enjoyed the time there but wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.

Alex's top tip - go walking at night into the forest at the back of the pool and switch your torch off. Brilliantly spooky!!

My stepdaughter and her boyfriend did not stay for the second night, mainly due to the wildlife in their room, which included numerous spiders and assorted insects, and also a rat which was on their bed when they went back at night. The final straw was when my stepdaughter sprained her ankle on one of the paths in the camp. She needed to have an xray and they charged them 3000 rupees for bringing them back to Candolim. I was keen on the idea of going in March, but I think I will give it a miss. It seems grossly overpriced and disorganised.

Didn't I read somewhere that you are never further than a few yards from a rat everywhere in Britain as well ?
As long as they are not in the kitchen all is well ! Besides, the rat on the bed was probably scared stiff of the huge snake hiding under it.

You might have gathered from my previous posts that I am very interested in staying at Wildernest and have, since 29/1/07 been trying to 1) get prices..email returned with details on 30/1 very efficient reply.
2)Make a booking..email sent 2/2 confirming our wish to book and giving dates.
3)Email highlighting the lack of a reply to 2/2 sent on 6/2
4) 8/2 Received e mail apologising for the delay in replying but confirming how to pay in advance giving their bank account details in India
5)8/2 Email, marked "urgent" sent asking if it was OK to pay the money into their bank account when we arrive in Goa as going through international bank transfers was a nightmare. Also enquired as to when they would pick us up from our hotel. I pointed out we were leaving early on the 15/2.

It is now time to set off. Still no communication from the Wildernest.
We might still contact them when we get there, but they don't help themselves at all.
I wonder if they have communication problems in their eco friendly hilltop ?
If we ever get there I'll put a report in !

There is a travel agent next to Simply Beautiful in Candolim, down past The Stonehouse.

They act as booking agents for Wildernest, and I'm sure they will sort out your booking for you.

Hi Dave

You can also book at Footprints, near Magnum resort. They have a website, if you contact Angeline by email, she will arrange it all for you, she is very helpful

I've just returned from Goa, and had an overnight stay at Wildernest. Its a lovely place, but take strong walking shoes and a medical kit. Take care at the infinity pool, as I slipped getting out of the pool (I'd only been there an hour) and cut my foot open! That put paid to me doing any treks  Try to get a room with a valley view its amazing, you'll never forget the view

Be prepared to have a few other lifeforms in your room, we shared with a spider and a gecko! And in the dead of night, there was something stratching to get in.........
