(sorry) - raki is basically un-aniseeded ouzo (I think) - you'll also see it called tsikoudhia (it's proper Cretan name) and tsipouro (on other islands and the mainland - came across some VERY nice samples on Paxos!)
16. Negotiating the car-parks, oops sorry, pavements in most Greek cities!
17. The Greek attitude to Health & Safety -"you can see that it's a 40 foot drop, why do you need signs to tell you?"
18. Closely aligned to 17. Greek practicality:- on complaining of a bad smell in our room (a rat had died in the ceiling space under the corrugated roof

), landlady's response (whilst handing over an Airwick ) "It's not IN the room it's outside" or, realising that when the shower was used, the water ran under the bathroom door, under the room door and down the hallway - cue knock on door, open door, lanlord hands over broom and demonstrates that one should shower with one hand, whilst brushing the water towards the drain with the other!
Oh,I LOVE Greece!
