It's usually down to things that would interest an 8 yearold. We usually pick somewhere family orientated so he can make a few friends with plenty of stuff to do or visit around the area. Before we had him though it would be anywhere as long as it was hot 
Our first holiday abroad was 12 years ago and I asked the TA where we could go in Oct that would still be warm ('Sir' had an allotment and wouldn't go before the end of the growing season) - she said Cyprus or Turkey. 'Sir' said the last time he was in Cyprus people were shooting him (Army service - but I think it may have been personal 
) so we decided on Turkey and have been going back ever since.

i pick few out broucher then i take a look on HT at the reviews then if i like what i read i pick my fave from what i have read then book it. so thank you HT
We generally go to one of the Canary Islands anyway but we also go to Egypt, Malta etc..and we try one new place a year and have one Canary holiday. We try to think of somewhere where the teenagers will be happy too. We are also part of a scuba diving school and so we also look to where the scuba diving is highly rated...on my list of destinations to try next year are Cuba or Mexico..
