Hi - we have been trying to decide on a resort to visit this summer, we have been researching for some time and think we have narrowed it down to these two. We are a family with children aged 13 & 10. The ideal resort would be not too small but also not too busy, we don't require a kids club but some activities would be nice. Good & varied food and easy access to reef snorkelling are important.
We are aware that Bandos is only a 20min boat ride from the airport - does aircraft noise affect the island?
Any advice on these two resorts would be great.
Weren't bothered by aircraft noise at Bandos - you get more noise from the seaplanes at some of the more remote islands! Unfortunately haven't been to Fily - but understand it is a very quiet island.
We visited Bandos (part of a twin centre holiday) in August 2005 with children then 11 & 12 - there is a lengthy report in the hotel review section. Had a good time (and were luckier with the weather on Bandos than we had been the previous week on Meeru). Summer is definitely NOT the best time to visit the Maldives as it is the wet season - and hence also more mosquito ridden - have been to the Maldives twice between June and end September and on both occasions have lost a couple of entire days to heavy rain! This year we are going at Easter instead.
