Hi,
I am planning on visiting new York as part of a world trip can any one help me in how long I should stay!! I was planning to arrive evening of the 29th october and leave the morning of the 2nd November which would give me 3 FULL DAYS in New York. I will be doing the normal sightseeing Empire State, Ground Zero, Central park, Statue of Liberty any other suggestions most welcome???? Not really into museums!!! Now do you think 3 full days is too much and do you think i could cut it down to 2 FULL DAYS??? or would this be squashing things in too much??

Gill, personally I'd say give it 3 full days. We are off for the first time in May and from all the research I'd advise you to get a map and plan your itinery loosely by breaking down what you'd like to see into neigbourhoods so you're not traipsing all over.
For example -
Ferry to SOL/Ellis Island, Battery Park, WTC & St Paul's Chapel are all in the same area. You could also walk the Booklyn Bridge while you're down there if you have time.
Greenwich Village, Soho & Little Italy are all close to each other
Grand Central station, NY Public Library & the Chrysler Building are within easy distance of each other
Central Park, Rockerfeller Centre (TOTR), Guggenheim Museum, Fifth Ave shopping are all possible in the same day
Hope that helps.

Gill, I posted this in reply to your message in the city break forum but you mustn't have seen it -
If you want to save a bit of money and want something a bit different you could try Radio City Apartments on W 49th St. They get good reviews on Trip Advisor and are close to Times Square, Broadway and the Rockerfeller Centre. They have a full kitchen and daily maid service. We've booked for May and have got 5 nights there for around £450. They're popular so book soon if interested. Plus the good thing is they have a great cancellation policy with no deposit so if you get a last minute hotel bargain then you can cancel without charge.
I must admit I was surprised by the prices for NY hotels, especially seeing as their rooms as notoriously small.

I have forgot to check on the City Breaks...so Thanks......do they have a restuarant and some sort of lounge???? Just with being on my own I know I wont be going out in the evenings unless on a tour. So really want some where that has some place other than my bedroom that I can relax in in the evenings.

Ah! I forgot about that. They have a lobby area but no restaurant/bar. There are however places to eat in the immediate vicinity and an Italian restaurant is right next door. If you got a 1 bed apartment you'd get a separate living room.
