Hi,
We are going here for a fortnight for hubbys 30th birthday at the end of June. Ive seen alot written about its sister hotel the sonesta beach but not this one..I know its not as 'posh' as the sonesta beach but am hoping for a little insight as to what to expect....As we are going AI,whats the food like,is there plenty of choice (im veggie and we have 2 kids) Are we allowed to eat at the other hotel for a change and is the other hotel really a nightmare to reach?
Also...(sorry im abit keen!) Is the water park open yet and is it only for guests of the hotel its at or open to the public?
Thanks,im sure I'll think of more to ask!
xx

first time i had been to sharm and thought it a lovely hotel. we had a room that looked out over the siani desert.
the food was the usual buffet sort. we didn't eat in at night...but noticed the dining room got very busy in the evening. the hotel was mainly full up with italians and they all seemed to go AI.
we did look in once and there was a good choice...cant comment on the veggie selection...but there was a pasta station where they would cook you fresh pasta.
we stayed at the sonesta beach in 2006...it was more expensive to eat here so i doubt if you could walk over to this hotel and have your evening meal unless you paid extra.
its not a nightmare getting to it...you do have to cross over the road...but its not that bad.
from our room to the beach it took about 10 minutes.
i would recommend using the swimming pools at the sonesta beach...there are loads of them...and some hardly get any people round them.
i hope you have a lovely holiday...x
We're off there in two weeks time, so will leave a review for you too read when we get back!!
Many thanks Char82
Hi,
You are situated on the main peace road which can be busy, but the traffic all goes one way then the other, so doesn't present a problem in its self, but be careful if venturing across with kiddies.
Across the road which is like a small dual carriage-way is the back of the Sonesta Beach Resort, you will see the Casino, walk through the grounds and you will hit upon the beach, where you will receive free yellow towels for your hotel, SBR has green towels.
We couldn't decide at the time whether to go to the SC or SBR, but we were glad of our choice as it was nearer to the beach, more facilities and pools and the over large rooms, that said, i wouldn't hesitate to go to the SC if the SBR got filled up.
I am going back to the SBR hopefully this July depending on my dad, and have already booked for next June 08, so will have a look around again to see whats on offer and how it looks
Enjoy your holiday

Just got back, had a fab time, just about to leave a hotel review so please read!!!!
I'm a bit concerned about the room layout as I booked online with Portland Direct and it doesnt give that much information regarding the sleeping arrangements.
Is there a separate bedroom area or are we all squeezed into one room?
I have phoned Portland and requested a double bed but the advisor was very vague about the rooms!! I also asked if i could pay for an upgrade and have interconnecting rooms but she said these were not available at this hotel.
Any information would be very gratefully recieved.
P.S. are there any bitey things in the sea as my 2 girls are nervous of that sort of thing, so am i as it goes!!!

When are you going? We are going 12th October 2008 for 2 weeks. 2 adults 2 kids.
Hi, we are going May 15th 2008, flying from Cardiff.
We were staying in the Sonesta Beach a couple of weeks ago and I went to the sonesta club and took some pictures for another Holiday Truth member who is going there.
If you wish to have a look this is the link -

Although we weren't in any of the rooms the rest of the hotel looks very nice and well laid out.

When we went May 2007 it was great, weather just right for our 2 kids, one 4 and one 3! The hotel is fine, don't worry, if you have a family room, it will be one double bed and a single in one room, then another single just off that room. If you have a double family room, then you have a double bed in one room and two singles in another! Hope that makes sense!
Many thanks for your link, your photos were really great, my girls cant wait to have a try of the water slides.

I am going to Sonesta Beach Resort, if thats the one right by the sea!
We are going 29 May from Manchester for 2 weeks and there will be 2 adults (ages 32 & 28) and 2 children (ages 3 & 11) plus 2 grandparents (aged 53).
It would have been interesting to hear your reviews when you got back but I guess you will be departing Sharm airport on the day we arrive!!
Have you had any injections? The grandparents in our party have but all the others haven't. I have been told by a few people who have been before that they are optional and not a requirement, although most doctors will recommend them.
Anyway hope you have a great time, do you know what sort of temperatures to expect in May/June?
Cheers, Daniel.
Your post needs to be transferred into the Sonesta Beach Resort thread, otherwise it will get confusing as both of these hotels are sister hotels.
As i have been in all spring/summer months, yes it will be very hot, May is nicer and around the 90s, but June is one of the hottest months over 100 degrees every day, it gets hotter until the end of August..
As reguards injections, i have them all and i am glad i did as i had a bite on my thigh from a fish that clung onto me, the only one that i didnt have was Malaria. GPs do recommend vaccines. There is a big thread on going about injections, so you should hopefully find out what you require from there. They should be free of charge. I hope that helps. Any q's on the SBR please ask, i am the SBR queen i have been so many times, hope that helps.

Does anyone know if the pools at this hotel are ramped or have gradual steps as opposed to the ladder type of entry?
Thanks
