Glad you're sorted Lyn
I did ask the Mods on 3rd march(page 2) to change the thread over, but maybe got over looked, sometimes this happens when busy.

I didnt ask anyone, but wrote it on page 2 of the post(for Mods to change it), i realised that the thread was getting large and felt it would be beneficial to bring the two together, save confusion:)
Thanks again hun

As the un-disputed Queen of the Sonesta Beach Resort
Thanks for your report in hotels as my wife spent all last night reading them and laughing at the pickiness of some of the other reports
She likened you to me and MY reports (you know i's dotted t's crossed)
BUT thanks to you she likes the idea of going there especiall the no needing taxi's bit (we've got video of the taxi drivers trying to get a fare whist we waited for the Hilton bus one year)
the info she wants is how big are the small rooms ??
there are only us 2 so we don't need a "family" room
AND
which is the best company to book with
I wonder if you do, what i do then, do my typing as if i want to write a book, being a taurean, i do tend to go over-board with everything, instead of getting to the point
Hayes and jarvis to the Sonesta beach Resort
http://www.hayesandjarvis.co.uk/hotel/12346
Longwood holidays
http://www.longwoodholidays.co.uk/sharm/sharmhome.htm
Thomson/portland holidays (same company)
Thomson -http://www.thomson.co.uk/
Portland -http://www.portlandholidays.co.uk/default.asp?&SOURCE=goog&referrer=google&ito=2152&itc=64
I do tend to go with Portland purely because the deal i get is always better then Thomson, but saying this, if you barther the price between the two, its a tough call who you will get. You go on the same plane in any case. We tend to travel from Luton, basically because it is cheaper for us, and its a really good flight and coming back, which isnt over-night. We actually live in the East Midlands, but to fly from there is a bad flight and costs more
Even though there is only two of you, i would recommend the family rooms with portland/thomson, there is good space and you pay no extra charges, only on the double family rooms you pay a supplement of £2pppn.
I would advise against Longwoods and Hayes and jarvis, basically because the rooms you get with them as really tiny, stuffy, not even enough room to move. In the summer months they would be unbearable. They also only allocate the tiny rooms, thomson as the main bread winners here, also the company that deals with the Italians, they also get big rooms. The family room consist of a double bed or 2 singles, a lounge area in some. The rooms are of a good size, but not over the top. I always pay the extra, as i like my 1105 room, i normally get the same room every time.
Have you read my two reviews on HT?

By the way the family room is for 2-4 persons
Anything else please shout

just done a check and on-line Porland are £130 cheaper than ThoMson flying from Doncaster too which for us is a bonus
Please ring up Thomson, tell them that Portland were cheaper and by that certain amount. They will normally knock some more off, barter a little

Me and my boyfriend are coming to the Sonesta Beach Resort on Thursday morning for 10 days We were transfered from Ghazala Gardens, so hopefully it's a nice hotel. Weather reports are looking great, packing tonight and kittens to cattery tomorrrow night lol!
I have emailed the hotel to ask if we can be put in a nice room, as it is my birthday while we're away and we were dissapointed about the hotel change. Does anyone know if they do try and put you in nice rooms? They emailed back to say they would do their best, but will they!?
If you are going by thomson/portland and have upgraded your room to a double double family room, even tho there are only two of you, you will get the bigger rooms. I always go in these. You pay an upgrade fee of £12.00 pp. You can email the hotel and ask for the upgrade, and pay locally for the upgrade, i recommend it, plus tell them in an email its your birthday, they give you a big birthday cake that is hand made, i got one for my 40th
They replied to my email to say they'll try to put me in a nice room, just wanted to see if they do actually try There are only two of us, but as I said, it would be nice to have a decent room since it's my birthday and we had to be moved from Ghazala Gardens.
Ooooooooh I can't wait!!!!!! This tomorrow it will be 10mins until landing
I am soooo excited I cant wait......
How far is it to walk to the centre of Naama Bay - Hard Rock for example? How far from the airport? Whats the food like for children? Is Kids Club any good for a 5 year old?
Thanks
Hi, it takes approx 30 mins to walk to the centre of Naama bay, and the HRC is situated the other side of the Mall, so a further 5 mins walk. With a child if walking will take longer. You will pass several restaurants and cabaret acts along the promenade. You can use the facilities at the sonesta beach resort. The Sonesta club has a lot of kiddies so hopefully the club will be good for your child. If coming from the airport to the hotel on your own, eg, cab, it would take approx 10 mins. If, however you are coming from airport to the hotel on a coach with other holiday-makers it takes approx 30-45 mins.
The fish in the sea were amazing, food was top notch and the people in the hotel mostly great. I'll put a full review up sometime this week.
Unfortunately, our holiday ended quite badly....we are massive Rochdale fans - Wembley on Monday and we were supposed to land at Manchester at 2.30am. We got on the coach to be told of a 20hr delay. We ended up getting the last two seats on the Dublin flight then from there to Heathrow and onto Wembley....what a tiring two days!!!
We would definitely go back to the Sonesta Beach Resort, it was just fantastic!
Great to hear such positive comments, I am going there tomorrow for 2 weeks.
I am glad you enjoyed your holiday, i am always raving about it as you know so its always an extra bonus when other holiday makers experience what we always do. I would also like to find out what you thought of the food in general being an A1 complex now. I am personally not a fan of A1, but got upgraded free, so i paid about £500 A1 for 2 weeks. What food did you get for night time meals and was you able to get free drinks off the beach (beach restaurant etc?) Also are they still wearing wrist bands.
