The airport staff are the rudest most aggressive people i think ive ever seen at any airport anywhere. Passports and visas were grabbed out of your hands without a smile, pockets were pointed at presumably to be emptied, orders were barked out at people, i was quite shocked at their attitude and thought oh lord i hope this is not the typical Goan way. A please or a thankyou would have been too much to expect i suppose! The women on the visa desks on the outward bound journey were positively scary! It actually was making people comment and laugh at how absurd it seemed to us. Certainly it made us appreciate the pleasant, polite staff on the plane home and also at Gatwick, it was nice to be treated like a human being again.
I find the female staff at Dabolim far more scarey then the male staff - don't know why, but they seem to come across more aggressive somehow. If they smiled their face would crack

hiya fizzy i agree with you there about the ladies who work there, my poor hubby got shoved in the kidneys by one very scary female, i had to laugh, his face was a picture! Good job we can see the funny side hey? And no it hasnt put us off returning, had the best holiday of our lives and going back next spring. Cant wait.
I think we have to remember the situation the females find themselves in outside of the workplace. At home or in the street, they are very much in an inferior situation, when they are at work, they can become a little dominant, it is understandable.

the key to gettin thru the airport quickly..... get of the plane fast, and i mean push your way off as fast as you can and walk/run to the airport building...if you can get in fast you'll be near the front of the queue and its not such a problem, then you just have to wait for your bags which doesn't take too long, just dont let the men in brown get to them first and when you're going out of the building just keep walking and then try not to fall down the slope on your way out!!! thiese are the tips my mum gave me the first time i ever went and i travelled on my own (i was only 22!!) and it worked!!! 
One of the porters took advantage of my son who is only 8 and snatched his little trolley suitcase right out of his hand. My son, who is not the shy retiring sort, ran after him and snatched it right back. We were very impressed.

My hubby went to the toilet at airport and had the attendant hold out his hand for a tip just because he opened the door for him!
While waiting to come home i went to the toilets, never seen anything so bad ever, not a snob but i had to walk out, and was told there was some more round the corner which was'nt brillant, but expecting to give a pound for a bit of toilet paper or opening the door for you is a bit of a joke, had my own toilet paper in my bag, there face's are a picture when you tell them you have your own. And a women came running back for the smoking area saying there was a rat,
In 2006 waiting to depart from Dabolim my husband went to the toilet. As we are regulars to Goa he new what to expect. He came out of the toilet laughing, I asked what he'd done. As usual the toilet guy held his hand out for a a tip to which my husband shook his hand and said

Thanks for that, we are first timers to Goa and felt huge guilt a lot of the time throughout the holiday at all our possessions and luxuries. The toilet attendants are probably on very low wages and i wasnt sure if it was expected to tip them for just being there. I will also take my own loo roll next time too. 
I all way's keep a toilet roll and hand gel in my bag day and night, as you never know what the toilet's are like no matter where you are. some are worse then other's. 
Be careful if using Air India for internal flights, I used them in April, Mumbai to Goa return. The return flight was at 8:30am on our tickets we arrived at 7:30am only to be told the flight had gone at 6:00am, they had changed the flight time.
This resulted in us missing our BA flight from Mumbai to Heathrow.
So if you do use them always check the flight times the day before you fly, we did not to our cost.

we just took 2 flights with Sahara Airlines and they were fantastic and very cheap, infact the cheapest!! we flew Kathmandu to Delhi and a few days later Delhi to Goa, all great

Hi Chilly, read your post re Khatmandu Delhi Goa flights. I'm off from Manchester around mid October to do Delhi, Khatmandu, staying there for about 3/4 weeks, white water rafting etc then flying Delhi onto Goa and staying till Match. Any useful tips regarding staying places Khatmandu, booking connecting flights ie in Uk or India, do's and don'ts, I've flown Sahara in past and found them good, I understand they are merging (Jet?) Any advice appreciated, pm me if you like. Ta!

We want to fly from Delhi to Goa in October. Ideally we'd like a direct flight so this seems to narrow the potential carriers down to Indian Airlines, Air Sahara and Jetair but I don't seem to be able to book online with any of them. Is it because we're too early to book for October? Anybody got any ideas, please?
At the moment I think you can't book online (unless you have an Indian credit/debit card as the govt has suspended this option - don't know why... I tried to book it with my English debit card in India - same problem.. Been in force a while now... don't know when they are putting it bacvk to the old way (as I used to be able to....
We booked our internal flight for Goa in January with makemytrip.com and payed by English credit card
Another alternative is Spicejet, they are currently booking up to the 27th October and I think you will find they are the cheapest. We used them last year and they were excellent.
