Hi i know ive read this on here before ive searched and searched but cant find it.
I read a while ago about high levels of fake euro notes in majorca, alcudia, i remeber reading about a certain denomination of euros which was highly likely to be a fake and most shops wouldnt except it, does any know anything about this, or had any experiences with dodgy notes, aparantly some fake notes came directly from an atm machine.
Can anyone advise on how to spot a fake note, or has all of this been cleared up and theres nothing to worry about now?
thanks in advance
I don't know of any recent problem with this, but 500 euro notes are to be avoided. Most places won't accept them.
thanks for that i remember it was a high denomination but couldnt remember what.
Do you own a bar or anything in alcudia?? if so ill b sure to say hi at some point during my holiday you have been so much help on here
thanks
claire
No, not a bar-owner. I'm a publisher here. I would tell you of what but for some reason it has been edited out in the past. Hey ho.
How long are you staying? You can always PM me and let me know.
But whatever, have a great time. Weather is starting to large it - 30 degrees today.
Cheers

Please help, can you tell me where abouts on the notes this raised rectangle is? I am off to Kos on Saturday so haven't got long to sort this out!
Thanks jojo
Can any one help?
Just to the left of the large numbers on a note there is a rectangular shape (although angled at one end) and this is slightly corrugated. It doesn't appear so at first, but if you run your finger nail across it, you'll notice it.
I'm reliably told that this is not possible to forge, and in 4 years of trading we've yet to have a forged note, so maybe they are not as common place as some would make you think.
The one's to look out for are the 50's and 100's - don't accept anything larger than that - there's no point.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Adam
we have been and gone form alcudia now, had a lovely time no problem with the currency, had a drink in the goodfellows bar too, thanks fro your advice
claire
Read your review. What a nightmare. I'm really sorry for that.
I guess it was the Alcudia Goodfellas bar and not Adam's in Magalluf, but maybe it was!
At least the weather and beach were ok!
Andrew
thanks
