security Taba

Yes, there has always been a very visible security presence around Taba, since we've been flying in over the last 3/4 years. It is reassuring for those who haven't visited before and even in the hotels you will find they are "discreetly" cautious regarding security.
In other parts of Egypt, e.g., Luxor, Aswan etc., they try to make visitors feel secure with a high number of Tourist Police in visible positions. Egypt is such a wonderful country, just go and enjoy!

We stayed in taba in December and the security was very tight. They even searched underneath the bus that went from hotel to hotel at EVERY stop. It got a little irritating but then i remembered the part of the world I was in and previous events inTaba at the Hyatt and felt I was being a bit of an idiot really. We take it for granted we will be safe.but we are safer because of security like that...

Try not to let this deter you. I went to Sharm within days of the bombings there in 2005 and I'm going again on 30th July this year

It was a few years ago at Taba itself, not Taba Heights. There was a suicide car bomber who drove his car through the foyer doors of the Hyatt Hilton ( think that was its name...big white hotel, looms right next to border control if i recall correctly..).
You have nowt to worry about in Taba Heights itself..beautiful place..

As Briar mentioned in an earlier post, the hotel concerned was the Taba Hilton, not the Hyatt.
