Kim, thanks for the review.
I have a couple of questions / queries.
You mention that some evenings you 'waited' for a table outside, was the restaurant big enough for the number of guests ?
What was the situation with sunbeds around the pool.........did you have to be an early riser to get one ?
What was the breakdown of nationalities ? (approx what % are Brits ?)

Thanks,

Graham.

Hi Karen :D

Sorry to butt in, but who are you getting your price for the Aegean Dream for next year from? Someone said they had booked it through airtours but I can't get it up on their site. The only people I can find it with are Portland and its quite expensive with them for 2008 for when I travel.

Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,

I booked by Airtours over the internet and got such a good price especially flying from Glasgow - I was quoted an extra £600 for the same holiday from our local Thomas Cook shop. Apparently it's a Mytravel flight and Thomas Cook had purchased seats from Mytravel and were charging an outrageous amount, £220 per person supplement!

I have just checked the Airtours site and you are right in that nothing seems to be available. I wonder if this has something to do with the merger, I think it's with TUI.

Another ironic twist was that my Thomson holiday shop couldn't book the Airtours holiday for me because they had fallen out with them. Anyway, I guess I won in the long run, a cheap holiday, flying from where I want to and with good daytime flights (I know the assistant in the Thomson shop is flying from Newcastle, horrendous flights and paying the same as I am)

Hi Graham
The first week was pretty quite, the second week was much busier (but I did hear it was full & if thats full it wasn't bad).
It was only one or two evenings that we waited a few minutes for a table, there were pleny inside, but the weather was freaky hot & some evenings it was much nicer to eat outside.
I never sunbathed around the pool, the first week we had the pick of beds on the jetty, the second week my husband turned into "Herman the German" & started heading off early with the towels (6.50am one morning!!!!), but there did seem to be enough beds, we just wanted a certain spot.
First week mainly Dutch, second week nearly 50/50.

You are there a week before us and a week during our stay,If you haven't been to Turkey before you will be pleasantly surprised,Last year was our first time and we're hooked

We have booked online with Thomas Cook for September 08' and it's cost approx £425 each with really good day flights too. When we went last September with Thomson, it cost us the same and the flights were rubbish so as far as I'm concerned, we have got a better deal for next year! :D

ive just checked price with TC for aegean for may 08 and its coming out £1997 with meals so thats a huge difference of over £700 wow , just having a good look around before i commit lol

OMG!! £700!! How can they justify such a massive price difference!
I priced up the holiday with both Portland and Thomson. Portland was approx £50 dearer with naff flights and Thomson was £100 dearer with the same naff flights!

Kim has reminded me of the race for the jetty sunbeds!!
I remember us arriving back to the hotel about 3ish after a night out and people were putting their towels on the beds then!
There was one woman who was walking along the jetty in a full length long sleeved white nighty. I thought that that I was seeing a ghost until, on closer inspection, I noticed the bale of towels tucked under her arm!!
Oh the memories!!
We always tended to lie & fry on the beach. Mainly because we were never up in time to grab a bed on the jetty and we found that the sunbeds round the pool were all a bit squashed together.

i know its crazy , portland gave me a free child and no meals, TC charged me for ellie, meals, extra 5 kilo luggage as they only do 15 kilo now so to get 20 you have to pay extra what a rip off !! no one seems to be able to beat portlands price or give me any other decent prices for any other 4/5 * all incs either. i dont like the sound of the sun bed situation why do hotels allow this to happen, what really winds me up is when someone puts towels on some beds early and either go out for the day or go on the beach and at 3-5 pm come to get their beds lol, dont get me started lol

:rofl Vodkafreak at the phantom sunbed ghost!

She could have given someone a heart attack floating around in a long white nightie at 3am!

oh the tears are rolling down my face vodka :rofl . that has really cheered me up :rofl .

I thought i was bad enough with my stack of towels at 6.30 :rofl

She nearly did give a heart attack I can tell you!! The thing was, I tried tequila slammers for the first time that night and I thought that they were making me hallucinate!

Ellie, I know the luggage thing with TC is a total rip off. We have paid for the extra 5 kilos because someone told me that if you go over the allocated 15 kilos you get really hammered with excess baggage. The thing is, you know what us girls are like, especially when we go minus the hubbie and kids, we have virtually take the whole wardrobe because you just don't know what you are going to be in the mood to wear on each night!! :D

I'm not too keen on sizzling on the jetty, are the sunbeds on the beach squashed together too? I know the beach is narrow but I do like a bit of shade when it gets too hot.

There are smallish umbrellas as shade on the jetty, there are very large fixed rectangular umbrellas as shade on the beach & there are large umbrellas as shade by the pool. So all spots have shade.
I think the pool is more child/joining in focused & the beach & jetty are more for a quite bake, lol.
