One of the porters took advantage of my son who is only 8 and snatched his little trolley suitcase right out of his hand. My son, who is not the shy retiring sort, ran after him and snatched it right back. We were very impressed

Awww, well done, hope you give him more spends for that :)
Trick is dont give in to the porters, its an easy way for them to make money out of us tourists.

Sorry if this already raised somewhere. I have looked but can't see it. We are going in Dec with my sister and its her first time. She is leaving the week before us and asked me if you can spend English money in the airport at Dabolim. I honestly can't remember. Can anyone help ? :?:

They'll take whatever you've got and as much as they can of it!

In general anyone anywhere in Goa will accept Pounds, but almost always at a very poor rate of exchange. It is best to get Rupees as soon as possible on arrival from the Change office or the ATM at the arrivals exit at the Airport. There isn't much, if anything, to spend money on before you to get to the exit unless you use the toilet or get caught by a porter.
If you are stuck it is nearly always possible to get someone to change Pounds but not a wise way get a good rate.

Yes you can spend english money at the airport although I wouldnt recommend it, they charge a fortune if you buy anything with the pound. In March a lady was charge something like £6 for a cup of coffee and carton of pringles - needless to say she just had the coffee.
The 1st year we went to Goa ( 7 years ago) we where told we couldnt spend rupees once through passport control etc so a friend when to the exchange bureau in airpot rt and ripped off mega, they gave him something like 40 rupees to the £ When you arrive at airport you will be given a slip of paper stating that you can not take rupees out of the country.........not true, now we always bring enough back (as everyone does who return year after year) to pay for taxi and 1st day or so.

Hope this helps

Ladies - always go to the toilet without a handbag but with toilet paper in you pocket. My wife gives me all her belongings when she goes so she just looks at them and shrugs when they ask for money. She also says she doesn't want to get her bag wet whilst she is in there (from the wet floor!!)

Just been onto makemytrip.com and they have the following notice-

"Bookings for International Credit Cards have temporarily been suspended. For online payments, please use cards issued in India. Alternatively, kindly use a different mode of payment. We regret any inconvenience caused to our international passengers".

got a good price with Jet aswell!!

contacted Jet on their free phone number 0800 026 5626 and they will book tickets for you but they are alot more expensive than makemytrip. They also want you to scan your credit card - the front and the back - and email it to them. "

Thatmanhere, must be a new thing about paying by english credit card, as I said in earlier post we payed for our internal flights on makemytrip.com in Jan. As for scan on front and rear of card, they also required this to confirm payment and haven't had any probs on my card after doing it. It's a pity it's been suspended, we saved £150 by booking the flights with them instead of using an english firm :!: Tony.

Been on flykingfisher.com and you can still pay by card on their site - something to do with the prices being in US$ - maybe their office is in the US instead of India.

Had the same problem, so I contacted them via live chat, they emailed me a form to fill in, then had to send a copy of credit card front & back & driving licence,

Bit of hassle, but they could not be more helpfull, booked 2 return flights with Jet Mubai-Goa. recieved e tickets same day as payment sent.

(last year booked without the hassle by UK credit card so I can vouch for Make My trip)

We also slashed about 50% off UK booking prices!

Mids, it is a bit of hassle booking through them, but, when you take into account the saving you make and their great service, it's well worth it, wouldn't you agree :?: Tony.

If you use this link http://india.makemytrip.com/default.html then on the left is a round the clock customer services section, click on that and then click on questions, chat with us live, fill out form and away you go, hope this helps, Tony.
