I am quite a regular visitor to the Premier Travel Inn Ilford, Redbridge but was very disappointed with the state of the bathroom of the family room we were given this time. There was long standing mould on the ceiling obviously from an overflow from the bathroom above. Also the bath tap was mouldy and the pedal bin rusty and discoloured.
I have emailed a letter of complaint and will wait and see what response I get.
I know that it is a budget option but there is no excuse for a lack of basic cleanliness.I am sure mould spores are harmful to guests suffering from asthma and other allergies or immunity problems.
Has anybody else experienced any room problems here?
I stay at Premier travel inns very often....They boast a 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee - did you bring thev problem to the notice of the duty manager at the time??
We were in a rush Merseygull so we didn't unfortunately and I did explain that to Head Office who told me that I would be hearing from the Travel Inn branch itself. I did post the piccies though to Head Office Eeeewwww!! There are a limited number of family rooms so I don't know whether there would have been a suitable room available to change to. Bearing in mind I specifically requested months ago that the room be on the car park side and not the motorway side.
We have always used them even just as Travel inns and always found them to be clean and comfortable and good value. Mind you the Telford one was in need of a revamp about 5 years ago. We did receive a full refund from the Nottingham South (on the Marina) about four years ago after a horrendous night. Some northern guests (hotel's words, not mine) had been drinking all day and decided to create a furore on our floor between the hours of 0200 and 0600 despite the police being arriving three times during the night. We found them under police escort in the reception area the following morning. Anyway, hubby complained and got our money back - so did the guy in the queue behind him!!!
Hi Pippy, sorry for the late reply but no, haven't done that one....
Ok, thanks
Have you checked whether any are available when you're going?
(probably not available if there's a big event on..... )
Thanks for the tip!
Our preferred choice would've been the Travelodge at Towcester, it's closer to Silverstone and we've stayed there before when going to the Grand Prix.
Last time we used that Travelodge, we were able to book a year in advance. Tried to do the same this time and we were told you can now only book six months in advance.
So, six months in advance we rang to book, only to find they'd changed it again, you could now book a year in advance again and all the rooms were gone
Premier Travel Inn at Great Billing was the nearest accom we could find. I'm sure it'll be fine, I stayed in a PTI in Birmingham last year (for the HT meet) and it was ok.
I doubt the special offer would've applied anyway, they usually apply event rates for rooms anywhere near (and I'm talking up to about forty miles away) Silverstone when the Grand Prix takes place.
Our PTI rooms are costing us about £70 per room per night (staying the Sat and Sun nights).
Still preferable to driving home to West Sussex on the Sunday evening though, it's going to be a very long, tiring weekend...............which I can't wait for, two weeks to go!

1. Premier Travel Inn is made up of company built sites which are usually good standard - paticularly the old Premier lodges that were built by the companies that have owned the chain (Scottish & Newcastle & Whitbread) - and purchased sites that may have been family owned or small chains. The quality of these is more variable.
2. Both Travelodge and PTI now have different rates for hotls near major events such as the Grand Prix. Travelodge call it "Event Rate" and its non-cancellable. For example I tried to book the Oxford Travelodge on Grand Prix weekend & its over £80 (normal rate £56). So you'll often find it difficult to get the Saver rates at the time of events (try Edinburgh mid August during the Tatoo/festival for example).
After my refund, it was on their site very quickly that this venue was subject to ongoing expansion - the system works!!!!
I'm still waiting to be contacted by the Ilford. Redbridge PTI. If I were the Manager, I would have telephoned the guest immediately I was informed by H.O that there had been a complaint.. Some customer service
Hi all , weve just spent two nights at the premiertravelinn chester north. it was a great break, easy to find and just a 15 minute walk into chester city centre, what a lovely place. the hotel was of a good standard and the egerton arms pub next door had a fantastic menu with most dishes on a 2 for 10 pounds deal. the breakfast was lovely too . we would definately go here again and i would use this company as opposed to travelodge which may be cheaper but you only get a little chef with those as opposed to a good family pub for food and drink.
I still hadn't received the communication from the hotel so I emailed back to customer services who apologised and said they would contact them urgently. That was last week . So I have emailed Customer Services again today suggesting we dispense with the hotel bit and try to work something out between us. Have you ever heard of anything like it in your life!!!!
Result....after nil response from the Ilford PTI , Customer Services have said they are crediting me with a refund for the stay.
Well peeps...finally I have been credited with the £60 refund. Oh that was after they charged me another £5 in error instead of putting the refund through
well at least its sorted at last! Imagine taking another £5 off!
We went to the Redbridge Travel Inn again for a one night stay a few weeks ago. We were booked into the same family room so I was a bit nervous. Anyway, the ceiling had been repainted so my complaint had obviously elicited a maintenence visit.
Just as we were checking out the next morning, I happened to glance up above the door and there placed over the fire alarm bell was a filthy, brown and crusty mens sport sock !!! Aaaargh.
I fetched the receptionist who recoiled in horror. Apparently they will be in touch ( I am still waiting). Now this is rather embarassing. I hope they don't think I put it there in the hope of more compensation I certainly didn't ask for any and I will decline it if offered.
I just think they need to sharpen up their act re the housekeeping. Maybe that room is cursed!!!
I assume you brought your luggage in a clear plastic bag so that they would have been able to look for old socks when you checked in......
we used a premier travel inn this year very clean rooms and friendly staff id use them again no probs
