Hello.
A number of posts here refer to Olu Deniz as being more expensive than other Turkish resorts. Can anyone quantify this please e.g. how much will a beer cost in the cheaper bars there? (if there are any). How much for a kebab?
We're in the process of booking for this year and I'm getting the impression that Olu Deniz will cost more than we are used to and could stretch our spending budget for 2 weeks. Last year we went to Icmeler and generally paid no more than 3 YTL for a large beer.
Are prices cheaper in the quieter resorts e.g. Dalyan or Gokova/Akyaka? And if so, by how much?
I don't want to restart the old debate about why prices are high these days or whether it's a rip-off, I'm just trying to make an informed choice of destination.
Thank you.
I Think we were paying 4YTL for large bottles of Efes last June in a bar and 3 YTL for some other draught beer(Tuburg maybe)? Alcohol much cheaper in supermarkets of course.
akyaka was around 3 - 3.5 lira a beer, well it was last year, but we found eating out a bit cheaper than tourist resorts like icmeler , olu deniz etc, casseroles were around 9 lira, which is what i mainly lived off as i love them and such good value
Stayed in Hisaronu,Dalyan and Icmeler last year I think prices were pretty much the same. Some places in Icmeler were cheaper but only because of the competition. With the £ falling it will make things more expensive for us.
I will just have to have a few Efes less this year

From what I can gather the larger resorts like Icmeler often have good prices on food and beer because there is so much competition. Smaller resorts which cater a lot for the british customer are often a bit more pricey (and the usual adage goes for all of them - harbour and beach front will always be more expensive than a back street), but smaller resorts which are more typically turkish tend to be cheaper still - but then you won't be finding your british fodder in those if that's what you are after.
the good thing with a resort like olu you have the busy village of hisaronu just up the mountain and ovacik which have a fine array of restaurants and bars then also the main town of fethiye with the old town and harbour the choice is endless
Thank you for the input everyone.
