Through personal experience, negotiate before you go via email on the model you want with a tenerife official stockist, then see if you can source cheaper through a UK-based dealer on the internet who would be able to supply you with the same paperwork/warranty etc.
The UK was cheaper for me.
Decided to go back to the one i have used in the past.
If you negotiated by email then you werent getting the response from them that you would have "face to face"
My answer on the other thread baout Tag Hauer says that from my experience in the trade, high class jewellers will not negotiate discounts by email. They say they do but they dont. By email they will quote you a ticket price and a "nominal" discount, after all you could be anyone, even someone else in the trade trying to suss out how much discount they will give, so they will not do it "seriously"
However having purchased an expensive bracelet a few weeks ago I can say that if you are speaking to them face to face and they know that you are a genuine customer willing to buy, you will get a MUCH better response than by email.
