We are going to Dubai in August with Qatar airlines, would be interested in knowing what the flight is like..enterainment, food, seating all that.
We have a 3 year old with us this isnt her first long flight we went to egypt last year she was really good.
Anyway i ahve also posted in the other destinations forum about dubai any help on that would be great too
thanks!
Qatar fly modern A330-200 aircraft which are very nice, sometime A300's. I've never travelled with them myself, but have been on many A332's. They have the usual seat back entertainment systems on their A332's and regular IFE on their A300's.
This is what their Airbus A330-203's look like:

http://www.airlinequality.com has them down as a five star airline - there are only two others. They have really come to the fore over the past couple of years. Friends travelled with them recently and were very happy with service received.

OK thanks sounds great looks great - i am so looking forward to this trip now
I have heard very good things about them, but I guess I'm just a bit concerned as you fly to the Middle East, although I know Qatar isn't next door to Iraq.
It is a longer flight than we are accustomed to - 8 hours to Doha from Manchester and then another 8 hours to Johannesburg plus another 1.5 hours down to Port Elizabeth where my parents live. However, they have just set up their Africa routes, so when we booked in January their flights were very cheap, especially for over Christmas and New Year, so that is why we are flying with them.

Gill
The planes, flights, meals, comfort etc onboard are excellent. I rate Qatar Air as the best airline I've flown with!
One little minus, though: the loos at Doha airport are middle-eastern 'hole-in-the-ground' style. They stunk and were totally disgusting.
if you need to go, try to go on board the plane before you land!
(Oh, and duty free shopping at Doha is not especially cheap!)

They are rated as one of the top airlines in the world
I live and work in Qatar(I am British )and have travelled 1000s of miles with them on business and on vacationto the Far East and Europe.Your flights will be by A330-200.
Hi please check Qatar Airways seating
Has anyone flown to BKK with Qatar? We have to stop enroute at Doha.
http://www.airlinequality.com for reports on flights with Qatar
Excellent airline. 5* Check out As i work and live in Qatar they are my airline of choice,I fly in Buisness and have to say they are top class, economy is very good with seat back IFE,food is good, now the problem Doha Int Airport is a nightmare far too small for all the incoming/departing flights, depending on what day you fly,Wed night /Thurs morning (00;00 to 2:00 ) a pain nowhere to sit ect.How long is your layover? be prepared for very long queues on transfer. If you require any futher info please ask
We land in Doha at 06:00 and then leave at nearly 09:00. Is this considered peak time? Should we make sure we have drinks etc with us? Any info welcome.
What are the kids likely to get to eat on the plane and what do you pay for drinks?
All drinks are free,as for kids meals I dont know,I have checked for you and I am told they dont get any special meal it will be same as you get but the food is normally very good.An arrival time of 6am is very good not too busy at that time. You can get food in the departure lounge and I belive you can pay in sterling.Anything else I can help with please ask.If you check on this thread you will see I posted the seating on the A330-200.
Thanks for that, its very good of you to check for me. I will check out the thread on seating now. Cheers.
I have just looked at the gallery pictures, oh how I wish we could go first class!
99.9% you will get an A330 either 200 or 300 series they dont fly the older planes on Heathrow or Manchester.
Oh good the kids will be pleased!
Can anyone advise if 2 hours will be enough time in Doha to connect with the Dubai flight? Flight from Manchester arrives 6.00 a.m. and departs 8.00a.m. The same for the return flight, arrives into Doha from Dubai at 23.50 and departs for Manchester at 01.50 - is that one of the worst times for Doha airport? I have the choice of the earlier return flight from Dubai arriving at 22.00 connecting with the 01.50 to Manchester. Don't want to spend any longer than necessary at Doha airport as I've heard it's uncomfortable.
Thanks.
