Quad biking

Hi,

Is quad biking safe over there. I've never done it before and would be scared in hurting myself!

Where are you going?

When we went to Sharm last month, we booked a half day quad biking trip. You can either go on your own or double up with someone (which is what we did as I wasn't too keen on having my own).

We drove off into the mountains then had a short break, onto a lagoon near Nabq Bay where we stopped for a drink then onto a beach to go snorkelling before riding along the road back to base. Other people we spoke to did quad biking in the evening, depends on who you book through (we booked through Thomas Cook).

Some people wore flip flops but I'd recommend trainers as you climb up a mountain in the desert. You don't need a driving licence and you wear helmets. Your bags are attached to the bike. Think we paid about £30 each.

You get really dirty so do it at the end of your holiday. If you buy a bedoin headscarf on another trip then take it with you so you don't have to buy another. You do get bedoin women trying to sell you jewellery when you stop so take some money or be prepared to be rude and ignore them (it's the only way they understand you aren't interested).

we did quad biking in sharm, it was fantastic and would recommend it to anyone, we went 250cc bikes, you had the choice to wear a helmet if you wanted. my son whm is 12 went on his own but was tested before he was allowed. we went into the desert stopped off for a drink and then went to the valley of the echos all together we were on the bikes for 3 hrs and we paid 25 for a single and 30 for a double, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next day, but this time it was for the more experienced rider as went over jumps ext in the desert, fantasic if you can handle the bikes.

highly recommended trip, we booked with a company called gamma

i would also recommend that you wear trainers and light weight trousers as the engines in the quads get very hot and it burns into the lower leg.
