Let's hope that they will. Over thirty people were killed in drink related deaths on the island roads last year, the majority were not Spanish. For some reason tourists think that it is okay to drink and drive on the island. The drink drive laws here are the same as the UK but the penalties are stiffer and include prison sentences for those over the limit who are involved in accident.

I think I am right in saying that the Spanish laws are much tighter than those in the UK.

The law on drinking and driving in Spain has been tightened to the extent that the legal alcohol limit is now only 50 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood as compared to the legal limit in the UK which is 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. For this reason drivers who intend to use their vehicles should consume no alcohol at all in Ibiza.

It is time that the laws were tightened here in the UK and much more random testing was introduced.
