my friend really rates GC on 192 and uses it a lot-certainly I haven't been since this January. To be honest-I'm not over keen-much prefer cracker barrel.

Morning Alison :)
We've had a couple of "not great" meals at the GC on the 192, the kids like the wide choice but usually end up eating the same things I cook at the condo/villa anyway.

If any one has any good ideas of places to eat in New York - I would appreciate details.

My wife is taking me in January for my birthday (No Salad Bars Please :D )

Thanks

A great place to eat in Orlando that no-one seems to have mentioned yet is Logan's Roadhouse. This is on 192 east of the I4 but before you get into Kissimee.

We only 'discovered' this restaurant during the second week of our holiday, but ended up eating there 5 times - including the last 3 nights in a row.

Seriously, the food is great - a real cut above the likes of Ponderosa et al, which to be honest my girlfriend and I quickly tired of. Ok so Ponderosa is great value, but there isn't a wild amount of variety (not that we liked anyway) so both times we went, she had steak and I had a burger.

Anyway, Logan's was a really cool place so I just wanted to recommend it, and see if anyone else has been and what they thought? I recommend their barbecue ribs - I'm a big fan of ribs, and these were the best I'd ever eaten by far. It's a tiny bit more expensive than the really cheap places everyone seems to recommend, but well worth the extra few dollars.

Just a criticism of American food in general here: before my girlfriend and I went to Florida, we were really excited about eating out there given the American nation's love of food. We ended up being quite disappointed really, mainly with the quality of the food. Ok it isn't rubbish by any means, but they definitely seem to favour quantity over quality, especially at the more well established chains - it seems to be a competition to offer the most food at the lowest prices, hence the "all you can eat" buffets for like $4 or something. This is really novel and appealing the first few days, but after less than a week we were craving some decent healthy (well, healthy-ish anyway) food.

As the Renaissance is closed for a re-furb I can't decide where to go this Sunday.

We've done The Peabody several times and House of Blues gospel brunch-can anyone recommend another one please.

I don't think any of the Disney hotels do a brunch-unless anyone knows different.

Denny's is good-as well as Cracker Barrel-or Perkins.

Also Sweet tomatoes-but on Kirkman and I Drive junction probably a bit far out for most people. Although handy if you are doing Universal for the day.

Has a breakfast menu and later does great salads, bakery, pasta and desserts.

Denny's is usually considered good by people who don't live in the US. :) I used to think it was good too. lol Well, it's fine for breakfast I suppose but you get what you pay for, especially for dinner (their dinners are very low quality). Still, it's probably the most famous non-fast food restaurant in America so it's worth visiting for an authentic diner experience.

Ponderosa, what are they like in us, there use to be one in Watford Herts Uk about 20 years ago which done steaks with a free salad bar but closed after a few years,
We use to really like it and would like to try one in New York if there is one there.

I have a few recommendations for restaurants in New York.

The first is called Carmines. This is an excellent italian restaurant located at 200 W 44th st between 7th and 8th. The meals here are served family style and are HUGE. It is great value for money.

Another good restaurant is Bond 45. This is more upmarket and more expensive and is located at 154 w 45th st between 6th and 7th.

If you like chinese Hunan 5th Avenue is really good. If you are a seinfeld fan you will no doubt recognise the name, if not it is worth a visit anyway as the food is so good. It is located on 5th ave between 36th and 37th st.

Def heard of Carmines, think we will go there 1 night, that leaves 2 more nights! The Chinese restaurant sounds interesting I will check it out too!
Thanks! :)

Hi all,

I have a few restaurants that I really like "over there".

"Olive Garden" a Italian restaurant chain over all US
"Dennys" serving steaks, salads, hamburgers etc
"Ihop" serving pancakes, chain all over the US
"Taco Bell" fast food chain all over US, serving mexincan food
"Del Taco" fast food chain also serving mexican food, but they are only in the Westcoast of US.
"In-N-Out" serving great hamburgers and their fries are the best, they cut the potatoes and fry them just before you got your meal! And this chain is also most common in the Westcoast.
"Fuddruckers" serving hamburgers, first you order your meal then you get the burger with a bread then you go to the saladcorner and put on what you want, onion, tomatoes, green salad, peperoni etc...

Have a good meal! :wave

I think it's spelt "carrabbas", a lovely Italian restaurant.

I also think Houlihans it's really good - located in Orlando on the 192, close to the US27 end. And also a new "Applebees" that opened just recently on the US27, they have a constant Happy Hour on too, with certain beers 2 for 1. Really great value for money food.

The Bourban Street Steak at Applebee's is my favorite steak. It's not the best cut of meat (but it's okay) but the flavor is wonderful. Mmm... maybe I'll pick one up for dinner!
