Just wanted to let people know that recently I booked a cruise on the QM2 with Fast Track Cruises. It was 12 nights and was advertised as £699 per person inside room.
I wanted a single occupancy and in some ways shot myself in the foot a little. Assumed that I would have a 100% supplement and the agent agreed. I paid £1398 for the holiday. When I received documentation from them it stated a figure of £1200 and when I queried this I was told it was just the way the figures were put onto the invoice. This did not ring quite true. I spoke to them again as I had 2 letters dated 29/5 and one 31/5. I received no invoice from Cunard. Again asked about this and another letter was sent showing a figure of the amount I had paid but dated the 1/6 This should have been somewhere about a week before I left on the 11/7.
I enquired on the ship with the future Cruise Staff and they brought up my booking which seemed to show that I had paid £600 for each leg of the journey.
Called Cunard when I got back. Told after initial call that I should call the agency myself. I was pushed a bit from post to pillar but I was determined to stay on the line and eventually spoke to Customer Services Manager. She was initially very stroppy! Told me no invoice had been sent from Cunard. I called Cunard who confirmed an invoice had been sent on the 29/5 at 12.21pm by email.
Calls not returned that day and I fired off an email that evening telling them that I had been in touch with Cunard Trading Standards and Abta. Advised them against ignoring the email. Next am I called and was being given the run around but once more stuck to my guns. In the end I was told yes they had all the documentation and they would write to me within 28 days. I told them I would only accept 7-10 days.
Received an email later that day to say that the Directors had agreed to refund the £198 and that it would be passed to their accounts. This was last Friday the 27th July.
Yesterday I received a cheque for the £198 with a usual without prejudice etc.
I emailed today to confirm receipt of this and thanked them for their prompt response.
Just wanted to share this information when these days people have so many problems getting satisfactory outcomes to issues. I just kept repeating that I would like my £198 back please and so a satisfactory outcome all around. Returned from holiday 24/7 contacted them 25/7 and the issue resolved and cheque in the bank within 7 days. RESULT

Can I ask why you don't book direct with the cruiseline?
hi.keela...........i admire your spirit...........well done a result indeed
I have taken on a lot of issues over the years and I was given a piece of advice a couple of years ago IS ASK YOURSELF IS IT IN PROPORTION?
Best advice I was ever given as I can be like a dog with a bone when I know I am right I can't let go!
I have lobbied my MP at Westminister. Very interesting! I think I would have tied myself to those rails if I had been around in that time.
I have never been beaten at anything I took on and I now that I am widowed I have to be able to be an even stronger woman.
I thrive at times when I take on the BIG boys and beat them at their own game. I could write a book about some of the issues I have dealt with. I am also a great CHAMPION of the underdog and I am always helping someone or other. Sometimes I am worn into the ground and thisis where this QUESTION has been so valuable.
I don't book with the cruise company direct as I can get a discount and get a deal from TA'a I am very loyal to one and will book with her if she can do the right price for me. If not then she will help me by checking out the TA I am thinking of using. Of course I do this also ad TA's have gone out of business. Like Book and Go and Cruise Control in recent years. I also want a TA who I can speak to at any time.
Hope that answers some of the issues. Any questions just ask. Thank you both for your encouragment. I achieved this result and the cheque in 6 DAYS and this I call a result. I would not accept this 28 days I dictated what was acceptable to me. You have every right to do so depending on the situation. Good luck to you folks out there.
Sue
