Just arrived back from a wonderful holiday in Puerto Rico that would have been even better if we had not had to shoo off hordes of reps trying to get us in a taxi to spend at least 90 minutes listening to a sales presentation for, I believe, holiday clubs.
I would warn anyone going to PR to be on guard - the reps tend to be hanging around the beach but we encountered some in Centro Comercial Puerto Rico- and to brush them off firmly.
Mostly they will approach you with some BS about a carnival or fireworks and may even claim you have won a star prize like a video camera. It is all BS.
They get paid by the number of people they get to the presentations and are pretty desperate to get you there.
Be hard and just say no!
they have been there for years !!! TIMESHARE REP'S just tell them, no thank you !!! then louder and firmer NO THANK YOU !!! then just go away, how ever you say that
in the end they just say have a nice day.
you'll find that in most holiday resorts ie.Spain - Tenerife, Gran Canaria, etc. there are timeshare touts..............my advise is just to smile and say no thanks or humour them (now that's funny!)
Usually these folks are just young seasonal workers, trying to get themselves a few bob and really are not making much money out of it.
Getting angry with them does nothing! Another thing you could say is that you're already an owner!
We don't let them spoil our holiday anyway!

tell them that and they now offer you an upgrade to another timeshare
I usually tell them that I am resident on the island and have no need of their timeshare,
Usually works

Look on the BBC and Office of Fair Trading (OFT) websites and you will find quite a lot of info about these holiday clubs.
Apart from being alert to the annoyance of being pestered by reps, people should know what lies behind these clubs and be on guard so that they don't end up at a presentation getting the hard sell and possibly signing up to something that they will deeply regret later.

We had a week in PR last week and ran the gauntlet of the reps everyday, we were expecting it and treated their approach with humour. No tempers lost and no repeat harrassment from that rep for the rest of the day.
"Excuse me guys do you speak english?"
replied in clear english with
"No, I only speak German and haven't understood a word you have just said"
Just one question if anyone knows, why the big push on Anfi beach? They seemed to have a rep on every corner.

The other thing to say is that the reps seem to get get paid by the number of people they send to the presentations and may try to send people who do not fit the criteria set down by the holiday club firm.
Twice we were asked by reps to say that we had been married for more than two years - which isn't true - so if you do get collared and try to get out of it by saying "but we are not x, y or z'' may not cut any ice because some reps may ask you to pretend otherwise. Best not to engage with them at all.

Hi T. Smith
Anfi have had reps in PR for about 15 years. Their main push now is Anfi Tauro although they try to get people started at Anfi Beach and then, once hooked, they push for more. Tjhey call it an upgrade. Personally I think it is only a relocation. All the Anfi resorts are of the same high quality
