Two restaurants to add to reviews...
(1) El Casinet on the front adjacent to the Daina Hotel.
Tried the Menu Del Dia. Had a starter of Tomato Soup, followed by John Dory fish and then cake. 15 Euros not including drinks.
The soup was lots on the plate and very nice. The fish was a whole fish with lots of delicious nicely cooked meat. The accompanying potatoes and veg were drowned in olive oil from the cooking making them uneatable. The cake was nice but stodgy. The house wine was nice and good value.
I had the impression that this was a potentially very nice meal spoiled by the chef. While browsing the wine label I realised why, the restaurant is part of the same chain as the Makassar on the square where I had exactly the same problem and have commented on it in another thread. Will not be going back.
(2) Ca'n Torrens at the back of the square adjacent to the church.
Similar menu to the Celler La Parra which is one of my favourites. Simple food, nicely cooked and presented, and here's the bonus, this restaurant serves any sauce accompanying the food in a separate sauce boat. You add as little or as much as you like. Every restaurant in town should copy instead of drowning the food.
Had two meals here and both were enjoyed and favourably commented on by everyone at the table. Will definitely return.
