However, if you tell me what kind of food you like and what kind of budget (or don't you care since it's a special occasion) then I'll have a go. And of course where are you staying in the resort.
Here's something to get you started...

Thanks for the link
Celler La Parra... simple, reasonably priced, good food in a rough old bodega atmosphere, menu can be restrictive for some tastes. Run by two Spanish brothers who are very welcoming. We eat there regularly as do lots of local Spaniards.
Los Zarzales... very Spanish menu, can be a little pricey but good. Run by a Spanish family from Granada.
La Llonja... amazing seafood.
Iru... great food, great location.
Not eaten in... L'Aup ...but it's very highly regarded.
Frankly, stay away from restaurants on the South Beach prom (the Alcudia Rd) and those in the Main Square of the port. They are overpriced and not that great in my experience.
Please do come back here and let us know your experience. Really good restaurants are worth knowing.
many thanks for your suggestions
I have to say I personally like Stay restaurant at the marina
If you want that style of restaurant with better food and service go to "Ivy Garden 49" on the Formentor Rd (one behind the Pine Walk).
You might tell from my posts that I like simple food, very well prepared and served with a smile and at a reasonable price. I would happily eat in the local cafe if I got all of those things. You pay the money, your choice.
Yes I would totally agree with you - it is a bit pretencious i just quite liked the view and the decor! and your also right there are plenty of excellent local cafes that offer fantastic food, eaten in lots of great little places that serve some wonderful food at reasonable prices
Thanks for all this helpful info
It sounds like you are talking about the Hostal Bahia on the pine walk, it has an outside seating area, or possible the Illa Dor.
Thanks
Yes non residents can eat there - I havent eaten in a while TBH, but in the past when I did the food was excellent.
Non-residents can eat at the Bahia and it's quite good. Note that the outside area at the Bahia is now confined to the pedestrian walk-way. They were made to remove the orginal area on the beach by the local council. The result is that while seated at your table people are continually passing by. Some people find this not very comfortable. In any event, it's unlikely you will eat outside in the evening in April, unless you wrap up well. April will be quiet (other than Easter) so booking is probably not necessary unless you want a specific table location. Easter being early April this year everything should be open.
Thanks again, no doubt we'll be eating inside most of the time but an outside table would be good for lunchtime (hopefully) We're really looking forward to going now!!
Both towns are great for a walk around followed by a nice lunch. The shops keep my wife happy and I admire the architecture, we both enjoy the lunch. I could spend all day in these places.
We've been to both Pollensa and Alcudia old town in the past. We will have a hire car (provided with the villa) but I seem to remember getting a bit lost in Pollensa!! Is the main square near the steps?? Thanks for all this information I really wish we were going for 2 weeks but we can always go again soon.
At the steps (Calvario) continue on down and you get to the main square. Careful with parking in Pollensa as it is lots of one-ways, restricted parking and tow-away zones. Park in one of the outlying streets and walk into the centre.
Thank you once again!!
Be careful what you wish for....so the saying goes....we ended up having a stay of 11 nights and a VERY tiring journey home!!
Just wanted to say that we ate at La Llonga restaurant 3 times, an anniversary, my birthday and then a special treat because we couldn't go home!!! It was wonderful, fantastic food, wonderful views, great value and very friendly. Totally blown away by that one!!
Iru was also very good, great food, lovely location, good price.
We walked past Celler La Parra a few times and noticed it was always full and looked to have a great atmosphere. When we went one evening we loved the surroundings and the feel of the place but they couldn't provide us with half of what we asked for - only 2 roast suckling pigs (we wanted 3), no shoulder of lamb, a long wait if you wanted rabbit, only 2 of the starters we wanted and they were all served with a few chips and a bit of salad. We left feeling disappointed which was a shame.
We ate lunch in Alcudia Old town (Tapas and Sangria), lovely atmosphere and food and also had tapas for lunch sitting outside in the sunshine at 'Stay' on the marina which was great!!
I would also like to sing the praises of our holiday company and the airline (not sure where to post that but will find out soon) All in all a fabulous holiday and the weather got better after we should have flown home!!!!
Restaurants...
1) Celler La Parra. One of my favourites, I had my usual "Lomo C_o_n Col" (Pork Loin wrapped in Cabbage). Delicious as always. Simple, well prepared food, nice service, reasonable prices.
2) IRU on the front near the Hotel Daina. We both had the "Menu Del Dia" at 15 Euros including a glass of wine and water. I had Prawn Salad which had a drop too much vinegar in the dressing, making it bitter. We both had the Hake which was nice but the potatoes and vegetables were drowned in olive oil from the cooking. Not nice. The Strawberry Mousse was very nice but tiny.
I left feeling that if they can't get the Menu Del Dia correct what hope for the A La Carte. In fairness, all around us were others eating from the A La Carte and enjoying it despite the high prices.
3) O Lume on the Pollensa Road, about 100 metres up on the left from the main roundabout. I had the Sea Bass, my wife the Veal. Both were outstanding, although my fish was drowned in the Martini sauce. Not unpleasant, but it seems to be a common fault in lots of Mallorcan restaurants, if it says sauce then you gets lots. The follow on sweets were nothing special, certainly not worth the price. We had two mains, two sweets, bottle of very nice wine (15 Euros), bottle of water and one coffee, all for 60 Euros. I left feeling I had had a lovely meal. Expensive, but a restaurant I would recommend for the mains alone.
4) La Llonja on the Marina. We both had the "Menu De La Semana" (menu of the week) at 27 Euros for three courses, wine, water and coffee (with little treats between courses). This menu was fairly restrictive, fish, chicken or duck. We had a nice starter, scrambled eggs with chorizo sausage. My Swordfish was overdone, making it dry, stringy and tastless. My wife had Duck which again was overdone. The sweet was lovely as was the bottle of wine. The service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive.
Again, I left feeling that if they can't get the Menu De La Semana correct what hope for the A La Carte. In fairness, all around us were others eating from the A La Carte and enjoying it despite the high prices.
Now looking forward to our September trip for more restaurant adventures.
