I have never been able to get into Brittos - well not in the evening anyway - its always been packed out. Is the rest of their menu okay Gemma? Sorry you didn't get a good brekkie but don't give up, you will find a good place i'm sure.

I tried a english sunday roast at Bernards in March and was really ill the next day - not sure if it was that, maybe it was just a coincidence, but don't think I shall bother again (other than at my friends place - if they do them).

Hi Fizzy oh yes no problems with food in Brittos of an evening, very nice actually and a good choice. As you say always busy. But the breakfast, IMO, best to be avoided :lol:

If I remember correctly it wasnt that cheap either.
We might try the one you recommended at the Royal Heritage, sounds very nice.

I don't think George and Michelle will let you down as they are quite critical about food and have high standards. I have offered to stay on as their waitress and warned my boss that I might be moonlighting in goa - trouble is the wages aren't much so I shall have to think about it a bit more - don't think it will pay off my plastic :lol:

English Grub

Have you tried the Rovers Return Beach shack in Calengute. It's run by Joseph and his family. He does as lovely sunday roast and all the trimings

once a week he has Suckling Pig to order. He has the same people return year after year and those that stay for the whole season. Most of the food is catered for the English

and he can do a very nice Fish Curry. Pop in and see him, his shack is back from the beach so no hassle from sellers. Tell him Liz and Jim sent you and we hope to be there for Christmas.

Does anyone know if I-95 in Calangute is opened yet. Thats one of the restaurants we want to vist for sure in November.
Did go along in April but it had just closed down for the season :oops:

took ages to find the :swear

place as well, its a little bit off the beaten track

I would recommend Zappas, bottom of beach road there is a right fork to Zappas, this is my 14th year in Goa and can honestly say have never ever had a bad meal there. They are lovely people, give them a try. I can remember one year we got caught in a rainstorm, they pulled is into the the kitchen to shelter, it is immaculate. They have decent loos and hand wash facilities.
You can sit there all day without hassle or have one of the sunbeds, the waiters will quite happily fetch and carry anything you need
Sunsets there are something special, great mood music and a cocktail - bliss. Whenever I think of Goa ( like every day :oops:

) I think of Zappas - I have visited many shacks over the years but in terms of quality.price and ambience they win hands down every time

Gemma - yes I-95 is open. They haven't had a good startt to the saeson as it's been raining most evenings, but they are open every evening from 7.

well,most of Goa was closed when we went but we had a brilliant restaurant next to us- Nirvana- give it a go if you are in Calangute

Great to see you back safely Fiona. Did you get to After 7. I think its opened and one of the best restaurants in North Goa.

I thought someone in the forum had said they had been to After 7's opening night, thats why I asked you.

hmmm
it must have sneaked an opening though as we did ask and it was shut at that time. Never mind- we couldn't fault any food we had in Goa so didn't fret over what wasn't there
