I agree that actually being ripped off big time must be rare. I even had a ring changed by a jeweller three years after purchasing it because a couple of rubies fell out. I didn't expect it and didn't take it back when we visited the next time, but he remembered us and spoke to us, so I told him. He said next time you come bring it back, so I sent my son back with it when he went on holiday the following year!!
You can't ask fairer than that. Another jeweller offered to let us take some jewellry away without paying the full amount and only leaving a deposit because we didn't have enough on us at the time. How trusting is that?
We too have had bad experiences in Spain. The difference is, the Spanish don't actually like us, they tolerate us for our money, whereas Goans do.
Well I'm sure that we all hope that they like us......at least when the beach hawkers rip you off they do it with a smile on their face
i would call it "usual business" not rip-off. what market tells is important. if it tells that higer price will be accepted and if customer pays, why not ask. is it a good policy in long terms - this is another story. they will learn their lesson in a hard way possibly but till then ..... i would say that the prices are still abnormally low compared to prices in estonia, to say nothing of the prices in UK.
