Booze up and brewery springs to mind. Oh yes, and "numpties" too! 9 years and they still can't get their act together, what a fiasco.

The ongoing saga of the River Princess has become the "eternal" ongoing saga of the River Princess. :(

Perhaps I've got too much time on my hands or perhaps I'm just a very sad person but started this when I woke up too early this morning!!

Far across the Arabian sea
Lies a lady in distress,
A rusting hulk in misery
That's known as the River Princess.

She's been there ten long years
And they say she can't be budged,
She's the source of all our fears
That the beach will end up like sludge.

The men all come and scratch their heads
And leave with plans to shift her;
They pump her out, strip her decks
But still they cannot lift her.

Companies have tried and deliberated,
On how to tow her away.
But it's like the Princess is constipated
And won't be moving today!

I fear that Nature will win where man has lost
And that it will happen soon,
And while the men talk of method and cost,
The Princess will break in the monsoon.

The men will then talk of blame and neglect
And seek for others to blame,
"It wasn't us" they say as the beach is wrecked
And Indian politics carries on just the same......

Spot on! Excellent! Anyone fancy posting that to one of the Indian Newspapers?

Now River Princess may be cut up

The large ferry that ran aground off Blackpool a few years ago could not be moved and eventually it was cut up.Not an expert but I can't see anyone moving that great lump.

A couple of hacksaws, a pair of flipflops and a swimming cossie, what more do they want ?? :rofl :rofl

With the Indians idea of health and safety I can see there being fatalities.

Now at last someone is at last facing up to the facts. She is either left there to rot, or she is cut up and removed down to the level above the sand, the option of floating her off past years ago. But as usual, when a big decision needs to be made, nobody is prepared to make it, so as usual in Goa, it's back to the courts, that will avoid anyone making any decisions for a year or two more, a very Goan way of doing things, thats why this saga has lasted nine years so far and will last for years more, I'm afraid. "This second option, to cut the ship and take away the pieces by sea, was floated at a meeting of the state disaster management authority that met on Thursday"

It might have been floated at the meeting but it certainly wont float at Candolim!!!!! :rofl

You know what.I really hate to be so negative but I would not be suprised if this thread was still running in another nine years.

Our first ever trip to Goa was spent at a little guest house in Sinquerim just behind the Taj.Magical it was too.Well we all remeber our first time like no other.

This year I could barely make it from Ganesh shack to the Taj because of the erosion.

Truly shameful decision after shameful decision by the Goan government allied with the usual corruption has ruined forever not only one of the nicest stretches of beach in North Goa but also the livelyhoods of countless people.

Despair is one word of many I could use.
