Thought I would do my report as I go along!!. Saturday 3rd, arrive Manchester lunchtime, check in not until 3.45, find plane is delayed for 5 hours - yes you have guessed it the dreaded Monarch.
Awful flight, plane was an Airbus 300?, everyone squashed in like sardines, food terrible. Couple of hours stop over in Bahrain, we arrived about 5.00pm Sunday evening.
Dabolim not too bad at all, got through with the minimum of fuss, hailed a cab and we are on our way hurrah!!!.
Staying at Prazeres in Candolim, upgraded to apartment with a/c, it is nice, although quite small - right above the bar - we saved especially for you Madam Not as noisy as I feared though - as yet anyway.
Had a nice evening there, think it was Herman entertaining, anyway he was very good and the G & Ts went down a treat.
Next morning 5th, took a very early walk around, I must admit it is then that the sight of all the litter hits you, it does look a god awful mess first thing, as the day progressed though traffic, people milling about the magic started to come back.
Popped up to Calangute pretty busy there, had a drink in the bar by the steps. Then back to Candolim heading for my favourite shack Zappas, its not there!!!!, no shacks as yet , although some sunbeds out .
Weather fine, just odd thundery few minutes now and again.
Oh well enough for now........... a cold beer calls
good for you- thats dedication, writing the report as you go.
Waiting Roxey, how is it at the Prazares and have you seen Simon yet?
It is at bottom of main beach road on the left, very nice restaurant, food is excellent and cheap. Very posh loos and beach huts available for hire.
Nice but I do miss Zappas, no sign of it going up yet either
Yes Allan & Marion, I have seen Simon and the rest of the lads, most days, still flogging their t shirts bless em. Their Mum is on her way from Karnatika today so we will be going up to their village later in the week to see her.
2 drownings of holiday makers over the last few days at Candolim according to the navarhind times, also the usual motor cycle accidents.
Off to catch a few rays, and looking forward to the meet up at Tea Ma with the HT'ers
See you later
xx
And how is the Hotel Roxey? interested because we are staying there Christmas & New Year Allan&Marian.
Hotel - good and bad, we have a nice apartment - unfortunately directly above the bar so is very noisy and doesnt close until the last person leaves. We did ask to change rooms but having been shown a couple in other blocks we decided to stay - they were pretty shabby and smelt damp - think its M block will check up and let you know.
Staff fine there, nice and helpful and the food is fine too.
Happy to say most shacks now up and running, also a big clean up of the beach going on at present.
Have discovered Bacardi Breezers - lime variety - very yummy!!!
The road from the hotel up towards the beach is a nightmare, as usual fast and furious and you take your life in your hands. Outsie the temple a tree has been cut down, branches etc stilll strewn all over the road for the 3 weeks we were there, blooming death trap trying to pick your way over those after a night out.
Rubbish everywhere you look, no getting away from it - in the cold light of day the place is a tip - night time is different still has the magic.
Great meals, recommend the Bistro at Whispering Palms for European, fantastic meal there, Annupurna for Indian, to be honest didnt have a bad meal the choice is fantastic. Bars - same really, found Nino's Nook courtesy of here, funny little place full of us Brits.
Spent a day at Fort Aguada Beach Resort, blimey how the other half live.
The have double sunbeds with huge mattresses and cushions, food and drink more expensive but reasonable - bacardi breezers 110rp
Spent a nice day at Coco beach, Blackies shack, can't do enough for you, not much left in the way of beach though.
Morjim was nice and quiet, lovely meal there,
Candolim/Calangute beach as mad as ever- too many sellers all with the same stuff, did find a little oasis in the middle though D'Meilios, nice little shack about 4 sunbeds, no sellers, not enough people to make it worthwhile.
Will I go back, yes of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi roxey is it free to spend the day at fort aguada or do you have to pay? i know some hotels are happy as long as you're eating and drinking.do you know any other drinks prices, namely kingfisher and wine!
It was free to spend the day there, I think Kingfisher was about 80rps, don't know about wine, food was reasonably priced and very nice
sue
Well, we had a wander around the fort etc, then on the way back saw steps leading up to what we thought was a bar, wandered up, stopped by one of their chaps, he said was fine to go in although supposedly for residents only - spent a few hours there, was lovely
