Back home now, had a great time all in all, but after 15 years visiting the rose coloured specs are off. For years I have stayed in an apartment beach side of main road, central but clean, relatively quiet etc. This year the Prazeres - god where to start. The hotel itself is nice, well certanly around reception, pool and bar areas. Had an apartment in front of hotel, very nice but kitchen was just that, a kitchen, no cups, plates, utensils, no facilities whatsover, 900rps per night extra, absolutely not worth it. Also very very noisy. The owner of the hotel has a liking for very loud trance music, no matter what time day or night 5.30am , 3.30 in the afternoon - its blaring away. I think a couple of the tour operators have complained so hopefully it will be sorted out. Certainly our third week was a lot quieter than the first two. The blocks behind the main ones are pretty rough, K block is terrible
The road from the hotel up towards the beach is a nightmare, as usual fast and furious and you take your life in your hands. Outsie the temple a tree has been cut down, branches etc stilll strewn all over the road for the 3 weeks we were there, blooming death trap trying to pick your way over those after a night out.
Rubbish everywhere you look, no getting away from it - in the cold light of day the place is a tip - night time is different still has the magic.
Great meals, recommend the Bistro at Whispering Palms for European, fantastic meal there, Annupurna for Indian, to be honest didnt have a bad meal the choice is fantastic. Bars - same really, found Nino's Nook courtesy of here, funny little place full of us Brits.
Spent a day at Fort Aguada Beach Resort, blimey how the other half live.
The have double sunbeds with huge mattresses and cushions, food and drink more expensive but reasonable - bacardi breezers 110rp
Spent a nice day at Coco beach, Blackies shack, can't do enough for you, not much left in the way of beach though.
Morjim was nice and quiet, lovely meal there,
Candolim/Calangute beach as mad as ever- too many sellers all with the same stuff, did find a little oasis in the middle though D'Meilios, nice little shack about 4 sunbeds, no sellers, not enough people to make it worthwhile.
Will I go back, yes of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
