Ruda's a good site. It's in a brilliant location, with direct access to one of Devon's best beaches. It will, however, be heaving in August - but so will every campsite within 100 miles, especially if the weather is good.
The bars are big, but you should get there early if you want a guaranteed seat. Prices are OK, about the same as the local pubs. Can't comment on the entertainment, as I was there with a 2-yr old, so it was early bedtimes for all.
The swimming pool is good, with an excellent water slide. But my only gripe is that you had to pay to get in. Not that much, about £2.50 IIRC, but a bit of a liberty as you've already paid handsomely to be at Ruda.
