they are now calling it a handling charge chris

I thought it was £10 per person if you pay by credit or debit but maybe I am wrong?
If you get cheap flight such as Lyn did, then it is still a good deal, isn't it? Very annoying but acceptable?

Thats correct suzi .Only way you can get away with not paying it is to use visa electron.

I still have a bargain so will try not to dwell on it this time , but next time I will be pre-armed and have an even better bargain . ;)

Maybe they will follow Jet2s example - Paypal :think
There are charges for using it but less than debit card (Electron is free with them too)

To clarify what I guess we already know but it is £5 per one way flight / per passenger.

To try and not incur the £20 per kilo excess charge I have today purchased handheld digital luggage scales which seem to be giving pretty accurate readings on some tests I have done and hopefully the £19.99 investment in them will give a good return.

Only a couple of days to go before I can see if they match the readings of Ryanair scales !

If they are the Balanzza scales, then they are deadly accurate :)

Hi John,

In reply, they are and yes they certainly are ! on the face of it a good investrment - should have bought these some time ago.

I did buy some very cheap non digital scales during the summer but they were so inaccurate they went back for a refund within hours of buying them - as we know you do get what you pay for.

We have a set of those too . I brought mine from betterware . They arn't digital but seem to be fairly accurate but I always try to stay a few kilos under anyway and so far I've only used them for charter flights that still allow you to pool luggage allowance anyway. I've used easyjet more and they still allow you to do this .

Hopefully I wont have that problem with wheeling our hand luggage straight to the gate or are they still weighing at some point :think .

How is this bag drop thing working then for those that want to check in luggage . Are they weighing the cases there and sending those with excess off to pay ?

Hi lynwestie,

I have never seen any hand luggage weighed at the boarding gate but on a recent flight someone at the front of the queue had a trolley case clearly much taller than the rules allow.

When boarding started he was asked to leave the queue and place it in the Ryanair baggage size check 'cage', it went in with a massive push and he went on his way albeit someway down the line from where he started - no check was made of the height of the case, the boarding staff were too busy dealing with boarding the passengers.

In my experience had he been at Stansted he would most certainly been stopped at security and his case placed in the Airport baggage check equipment. The difference is that they place hand luggage in lengthways - holding the handle on the side to lower it in, rather than from the top (if that makes sense). His case would not have gone in and he would have almost certainly been told to check it in as hold luggage at great cost or leave it at the airport.

Regarding the bag drop - I don't think Ryanair (or any other airline) will give up ‘weigh and pay' to generate extra revenue from overweight checkin cases !

Friends of mine booked flights the other day, have had confirmation email and booking reference through but no money has been debited from account yet. They want to book accomadation as soon as but are wary in case the flights end up cancelled, any ideas?

Does their online booking show status as CONFIRMED or NOT CONFIRMED ? If it shows as CONFIRMED, there is hopefully nothing to worry about, as I once waited weeks for the payment to be deducted from my account. If shown as NOT CONFIRMED, there may be a delay in the bank authorisation process ... more info here.

Does anyone know if Ryanir will fly from Glasgow Prestwick to Lanzarote in July? And when they will release prices. I can get flights up to the end of June but there are none after that.

Just printed off our boarding passes having done online check in, we fly 27th to tenerife however it only prints the outward tickets, is that right or do we have to wait a week (duration of holiday) to print return boarding passes.
