The hotel does have larger rooms. The first year we stayed there we were given two rooms - the second bedroom accessible through the first but with only one bathroom and you could have had 6 or 7 beds altogether in the two rooms although there were only 4 of us. This was booked through Thomsons. However the hotel has refurbished some of the rooms for which they charge a supplement and I'm not sure if it is these larger rooms that they use for people who book direct with the hotel.
I haven't stayed in the Beach Club - some people with young children staying in the hotel complain about the lifts - as the restaurant is on the 8th floor and lifts are busy and frequently are out of order (although fairly quickly repaired) - has never caused us any problems as we will just use the stairs. All the entertainment is based around the beach club.
I would email the hotel direct to ask them about rooms at info.cartago@sanmiguelresort.com or info.club@sanmiguelresort.com. If your children aren't bothered about Thomsons kids club it might be worth also asking them to give you a price for booking direct - we have booked direct for last 5 years (stayed in apartments which are great but the hotel is thinking of selling them after this summer). Easy to get cheap flights and taxi transfers.
You will have a great time - it gets to be addictive with loads of people returning year after year (it was our 9th visit this year!!!!).
Hi everyone, my partner and I are off to San Miguel in a couple of weeks with our young daughter. I've been reading about the caves nearby and just wondered how you got to them from the hotel. Are the paths/caves push chair friendly or do you recommend we pack the baby carrier?
You get to the caves by turning left out of the hotel. It's about a 10 - 15 minute walk (uphill)
You can't take a pushchair into the caves, not sure if there is somewhere you can leave it outside, but the steps that lead into the caves are quite steep if your littl'un is a toddler.
Saying that they are worth a visit.
Anything else, just ask
Hi micknmill, thanks for the speedy response! Think we might pack the rucksack to carry our daughter then, just wanted to check as it takes up a lot of space in the suitcase.
We are going for the 5th time next week and have always stayed in the hotel but this year we are in beach club,I normally email forward and request an upgrade to the larger room if available but does the beach club have the rooms on 2 levels ? and do all beach club rooms face the swimming pool/beach ? Cheers John.
We stayed at the beach club in July, we stayed in room 103 which is a split level room on the 1st floor it over looks the pool tables/pool bar, it obviously had a pool view and a bit of a sea view. If you were on the next floor up i would think you would have a better view of the sea, however im not sure if these would be split level. Anyhow it was a great room, with a massive balcony and comfy beds
Hope this helps, and have a fantastic holiday
Can't believe how much money we will save booking direct!
Last yesr it was about 38 Euros each way
Hi am returning to San mig for 3rd time this year, never been on land train and was wondering where it goes, do you have time to get off and is it worth it? Also saw you can get bus to Market, does anyone know whether they are reliable and how much? usually go with guy over the road.
hello, well we,ve just booked here for start of july with thomson in a standard room but after reading up on here i see they have a superior room,so i was wondering are the normal rooms ok for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids 13 and 10),or should i e mail the hotel and ask how much a superior room is. One more question if normal rooms are ok can someone tell me a good room with a sea or pool view i can ask for. Thanks for your help
take it you booked the Hotel, never stayed at beach club but should think hotel room will be ok not wonderfully spacious but hay you not gonna be in it much, most rooms from hotel overlook bay and sea as thats the way its built, wonderful views from higher floors. dont know if Thomsons do superior rooms only direct bookings with hotel. Your kids will love it there, so family friendly, my 2 are 17 and 20 and still want to go back for 3rd time, son wouldn't come to Cyprus with us last year but will come on hols this year providing we go back to san Mig!
hi we are going to the san miguel hotel in june, i have booked a sea view room can any one tell me if there are any rooms with sea view overlooking the pool, first time there and dont know the layout, also is there any where my husband can do a spot of fishing as i like staying around the pool all day and he tends to get bored after a while.cant wait to go
Hi nearly all rooms overlook sea and view is wonderful ,higher the floor better the view.Your hubby could fish from landing stage at harbour, seen lots of people doing this.
hi we are going to the san miguel hotel on the 11th june can any one tell me if the entertainment will be outside on an evening thanks
It is weather permitting but by June would think so. You are in for a treat providing you have a gsh and take Zorro with a huge pinch salt, he's a lovely guy and a master at his craft.
hi can any one tell me if the hotel has its own pool or do you have to use the pool at the beach club, also i have read that the bar closes at eleven o clock , can you get snacks up to that time to,first time visit and trying to find out as much as i can. thanks
Hi The hotel sure has its own pool, smaller and quieter, thats where we stay as find the Beach Club one too noisy, ( Thomson has photos on their hotel link) Think that you can get snacks in the restaurant until 11 o clock. 3rd visit for us this year, had a change last year but back due to family mutiny this year.
hello, just wondered does anybody know if this hotel does pool towels, and if i email the san miguel hotel is it possible to get a room upgrade, that ive read about that sometimes happens at the beach club?. thanks
Don't know about upgrading rooms as we've never bothered, as you're only in there for an hour or so a day for a shower before dinner.
Hi we emailed and requested two adjoining rooms and they oblidged, so worth a try, will say though, we've always found room quite adequate for time you're in them.
