The couple live here in Spain, allegedly committed the crimes here and presumably will be punished here. Why are taxpayers funds involved do you think ?

obviously you haven,t heard of the saying, what it means is,scum like them cause havock distruction and heartache, and they then go to court, not just these ,but others like them,do they pay for legal rep?,or anything no, some go to prison ,they don,t pay for their stay do they, the goverment do,hence the saying ,it is a waste of tax payers money on scum.

Thank you for your explanation; it's all crystal clear now.
I think that the cost to the taxpayer here in such cases will be a lot less than the taxpayer in the UK in similar circumstances! I understand the cost of keeping folks in prison here in only a fraction of costs in the UK.
Also here in sunny Spain, the courts confiscate assets to offset costs.
So at the end of the day,the taxpayers here in Spain will not probably pay. IMHO !

Why do people like this go into a 'caring' business, it shouldn't be just about money when vulnerable people are involved.
Those ladies must have been upset and frightened.

Hi Meseta.

I hope the trial is in Spain and they serve their sentences in a Spanish jail, if they are proven guilty....not because I want to inflict them on the Spanish system, but because I want them to have a harder time than they would here in the UK.

I called them "scum of the earth" because to rob and steal off anyone is bad enough, but, to rob and abandon elderly, frail and possibly confused old ladies is despicable, but I have no doubt that some smart lawyer will fight for their extradition, and get them into a "soft" prison here in the UK.
I felt so angry after reading this story,  that if the Guardia Civil had given me a baton, then I would have helped them serve some justice, without any remorse.

besos xxx
