Discussions regarding holidays in Goa.
If even a couple of the new rules come into force it will be a sad day for Goa's tourist trade, the Shack owner's held a protest in Panjim waving black flags on World Tourism Day Thursday September 27

I am struggling to understand the logic of the number of beds they are allowing.

I am the first to admit that I hate the crowded area's like the bottom of the beach road I can't think of anything worse than lying on a bed at the likes of bobbys in Candolim where you turn over on your bed and elbow the person on the bed three away from you in the eye!!!

But I do appreciate that these shack owners have a living to make and if they are only allowed 5 or do they 5 pairs of beds? It will mean that takings are going to be down.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out during the season, at the moment I won't mind lying on the sand as long as I have shade ( bought a light weight parasol reduced to £5 in sainsburys last week which I think I may take) but its not really what I want to do!! I want to lie on a bed in my own space Fag and Book in band and be comfortable!

Lets hope they see sense and change this ruling sooner rather than later there's an awful lot of people who book their holidays early and the first few weeks of a season could have a major impact on next seasons bookings!!

Bloody hell Tiny I thought it was a mistake and they meant 5 pairs!! They must be expecting a lot of singles then!!

Dragon's link definately refers to the restriction been five pairs of beach beds but like Tony I was told it was only five beds which would be crazy, last season it was ten pair and that was not enough for the amount tourist's even at the start and end of season

There is some confusion due to mis-reporting in the press.
Many sources are saying '5 beds' instead of '5 pairs'.

Either will be a disaster. The shack we use is Aggies, near to the Goan heritage hotel,it is by no means a large shack, but has a loyal following. Even on our annual visit mid nov. to mid dec. a quieter time their can be twenty plus beds out and all taken.? My wife has had two total knee replacements and finds it impossible to get up from lying in the sand so that won't be an option! and I am sure many more of the less able are in the same position. If they stick to this punitive rule it will be our, and I expect many others last visit. What lies behind all governments, of whatever hues, dislike of the shacks is open to question, but it is apparent that they will put obstacle after obstacle in their way, and in the process do untold harm to their tourism. Vey sad indeed

5 pairs = 10 beds same as last year and it just did not happen

did have occaision last season when shack owner came out and threw a few people off sunbeds and stacked the beds up for a short while when the police? came around.

Like Gramps says, I too do not understand the annual furore over the sunbed/shack issue.

If it wasn't for the shacks I absolutely would not bother going.

I don't think that Goa has much to offer tourists apart from sun, sand and shacks .

Certainly if as much effort was put into the litter problem the effort would be more than justified
.
But in the final event, like most, I guess that nothing will really happen to the beds.
