I was in Icmeler in end of May i am a chloe bag lover!!Had my eye on it all hols i got it in the end from£120 down to £50 seems a lot for a bag spesh in Turkey too but on the good market in Liverpool were they do fakes they are charging £90/£100 my chloe bag is white with gold trimmings and padlock!get lots of admirers. enjoy

I also got one in Icmeler in May, got him down to £40. He wanted £50 but he said as it was quiet I could have if for £40.

£40 is the going rate, esp for Chloe and prada...... it is what i was offered in Kas, in a proper shop!!! Didn't buy any though.

Im going to gumbet in 2weeks & I was just wondering what is cheap to buy. Is perfume any good out there or clothes, etc?

DON'T buy perfume from anyone selling on the streets in Gumbet/ Bodrum, or anywhere else you may end up in Turkey. Its all fake, and absolutley bogging! I wouldn't buy perfume anywhere in Gumbet at all, just at the airport at Bodrum.

Clothes, yep, you'll get some great bargains. Just look around, and then get haggling for all you're worth for the stuff you want.

Are the bags and glasses good copys in turkey and jeans got some for 12 pound says they sell here for about 55 pounds .

Turkish cotton is excellent so the jeans will be fine. £55? Crikey. I didn't know you could pay that much anywhere.
I have bought glasses which were fine. Don't know about bags. The only ones I've acquired in Turkey are under my eyes after some raki.

The quailty of 'copies' varies from market to market and shop to shop.

For example you can get 'Chloe' bags that are 40 pounds but there are some 'Chloe' bags that are 80 pounds. I you ask the guys in the shops they will tell you the quality of the leather and the quality of the finishing, such as linings, stiching etc is superior in the more expensive products. It comes from a better factory in Istanbul etc etc.

I looked at a few and this did seem to be the case, but you need to have a good look at what you are buying as there is the potential to be ripped off if you are not vigilant.

Has anyone mentioned pistachios? They're usually exceptionally fresh and tasty. In the market, they generally come in two grades, the bigger ones are usually better and are of course more expensive but are well worth it. A kilo costs about 20 YTL.

I haven't read all the posts on this subject but I don't think curtains have been mentioned. They really are a bargain, we had nets and curtains made for our place in Icmeler for 7 very large patio doors/windows total cost £700. That was in May 2005, this year whilst on holiday we had curtains made for our house here. We went back to the same curtain shop in Icmeler 3 days before we were due to return home, we chose the material for 3 windows, my wife specified lined curtains with triple pleats tie backs etc etc. At this point, I began to wonder how much this would all cost. So before we got to the nitty gritty of bartering I discreetly asked her what would be a reasonable price she estimated about £450 for the 3 , at that point I thought better get ready to barter big time. We asked could they be ready within 3 days. Yes was the answer, and how much will that cost? After a few minutes of calculator tapping and Turkish mumbling came the answer £100 We didn't barter what a bargain and they look great.

designer jeans,dg armani,replay and g star very good buys my 18 year old twin sons stocked up on these and tshirts.they paid between 18 _ 20 pounds a pair .Tshirts were around 8 pounds .They got lacoste jumpers as well.they did have radley bags in the markets 5 for 10 pounds.they quite good for pressies.i bought a chloe bag for 38 pounds and a versace bag for 37 pounds they are really good copies i got these in iclemer market.but i had to really barter to get them, sue

i bought a prada bag in icmeler market for £2.50 last year and it is the best bag I have ever bought

We're off to Olu 3 weeks tomorrow; how will we know if we are buying genuine/fake designer goods in shops/markets?

None of them are genuine Donna . you just get poorer or better quality fakes
