I am booked on a package tour in Austria for 7 days on 7th August.
I have only paid a deposit but the company (Justyou) has emailed me that the balance of the money is due on 15th May.
I am 70 years old so not likely to be allowed to travel.
Should I pay the balance on the due date and hope for a refund if the company cancels the trip or if the lockdown is still in place?
I do not have a private travel insurance at the moment but the trip is ATOL protected.
Many thanks for any advice.

be in breach of the Terms & Conditions and would not only forfeit the holiday
but lose your deposit and possibly incur additional charges dependent on the
T&Cs. I did read somewhere that TOs were not asking for the balance until
Four weeks before departure. I would suggest contacting them ASAP and discuss
the matter with them. One thing is certain they cannot guarantee the holiday
will take place. Once you have spoken with them you will be able to make a
decision. 2 – You say *I am 70 years old so not likely to be allowedto travel.* Assuming that the holiday actually takes place it would be
government restrictions that could prevent you going not the Tour Operator – If they
refused you then you would be entitled to your money back but if they said yes
then it would be a matter for your insurance – which you have not got.
Withoutwishing to offend in any way your case highlights why it is so important that
you get insurance as soon as possible after booking a holiday, even without the
problems with the virus so many things can cause you to cancel a holiday.

Your best bet is to pay and then at least you know you've a good chance of either getting your money back or swapping to another date.
Many thanks for your reply. I'll pay the balance & see what happens in August.
