I've been reading reviews of Sidari to find out if it would be a suitable destination for us.
Some reviews suggest it's over commercialised and lively to the point of being rowdy, others suggest it's quite relaxing.
Problem with reading other peoples opinions is that one person's too lively is another person's not lively enough.
To get to the point of my question, Greek resorts I've been to in the past include Stalis (Crete), Argassi, (Zante), Trianda (Rhodes). Can anyone who is familiar with Sidari give me an idea of how commercialised the place is compared to any of the ones I've listed?
That way I can judge whether or not it would be too commercialised/busy for our liking.
(For the record Stalis was at the top end of how busy we like it, any busier than that would be too busy for our tastes.)
Thanks
For the last couple of years, we've been going to Roda, which is not far from Sidari, but a little quieter (and you could still get a cab into Sidari if you fancy a rowdy night out). Roda is a lovely place - the people are unbeleivably friendly - it's small, but not to small. With plenty of bars - most of which are family friendly, but a couple are for the more 'in-crowd'. Plenty of restaurants, with everything from greek, to italian, to fish and chips. Great beech. Never seen any rowdiness at all. Well worth a look.

I have just come back from sidari this week. This was my fourth visit so I think I know it quite well!
Sidari has grown over the years, the centre can be lively and yes commercialised but very much like many resorts on other islands. It is not quite the same as somewhere like Kavos or Falaraki for example I think it also depends on what time of year you visit.
We tend to stay up towards the Peruolades end which is a lot quieter than the main strip but giving us the choice if we want the 10 min walk down there
As previously stated, you either love or hate Sidari, I am 50 yrs old and find it lively enough without being over the top. Someone younger may find it boring as did some lads last week who ended up being moved to Kavos. It is a family/couples resort rather than a singles. As I have never been to any of the resorts you mention, I cannot say if they are similar although I have been through Stalis to get to A Nicolas and thought that was busy at the time.
Sorry cannot be of more help
Got back from my first trip to Sidari on Monday; we were there for a week.
It absolutely bucketed it down Mon, Tues and Wed, this made we want to go home! It did brighten up and got warm the latter part of the week, though.
Sidari.. hmmmm... don't think I'd go again. The place was nice but although it was October there didn't seem a lot going on. Now I'm no party animal but I did want some life.
You can see some pics I took as well as comments on my board, click the link in my profile and look at the Travelogue section or send me a pm and I'll give you the address.
You missed the amazing thunderstorm on the saturday before then
Now I do not get frightened by them in this country, on the contary, I will sit and watch them with the curtains and windows open, but this one really freaked me out
I would never go for the one week as you tend to get a bit of bad weather at that time of year I have still arrived back with a lovely bronze tan
I have always been lucky when we have been, our holiday was made by the very good company we had this year! Our new made friends were all brilliant Thanks to any of them that read this and hopefully catch up again next year
Missed the Saturday storm but on the Monday night we were in Smugglers Inn and were watching the lightning crackle across the sky. It was quite amazing!
Sidari is a lot more lively than Ipsos, Ipsos is dead and not in the least bit nice
On the way from the airport on the Monday and elderly lady said she had booked for Kavos. After two days she complained and was moved to Sidari as Kavos was dead.
Hi not only was Ipsos dead it is a dump. I have been in Sidari, Kavos and St Georges, I thought you could not get any quieter than St Georges but I was wrong, four of us spent a week in September this year in Ipsos and although I could not complain about the accommodation as it was really good the resort had nothing that would take me back to it. We spent two nights down at the main part of the resort and the other five in the Apartment pool bar as their was more going on there than we could find in the resort
I have come home quite positive (yet again). Sidari never fails to satisfy, maybe we make our own fun
As for anyone who has visited in the past and thinks it is a dirty place, it is in the middle of having a face lift with a new drainage system being installed this winter and they are hoping to clean up 'smelly bridge' as it is now known
Sidari main strip has also had a bit of a face lift along with the little park with the church and bandstand
If anyone would like to see any pictures of the main street, email me and I will send you some
There are some lovely places on Corfu, Corfu Town is beauitful steeped in history if you like that sort of thing
Would not recommend October as it is known as the rainy season, hope whereever you go you have a good holiday

i think sidari is a good choice ,has both quiet and busy bars a good mix.
Like Stalis and Argassi the main bars and restaurants are mainly spread along one main road that leads through the resort. From my experience of Sidari in mid June and the other two resorts in early September I would say they are very similar in terms of how lively they are. Theres a good mix of quiet and lively bars and Sidari did seem to attract a mixed crowd although not too many young groups.
I wouldn't say Sidari is any more commercialised than Argassi or Stalis although this may have changed over the last 3 years. The Canal D'Amour area of the resort may be a better option as this is quiter but well within walking distance of Sidari's centre.
If its a taste of traditional Greek life your after I'd give Sidari a miss. If you're after a nice beach resort catering mainly for Brits with a good choice of restaurants and bars and plenty of options for days out then Sidari is worth a go. Of the three resorts mentioned Sidari is my second favourite (after Stalis).

ps got to agree with Pojo. Corfu Town is a must.
