Possibly not, as the weather is so wonderful, it's easy to sit outside if you want to smoke. Difficult to do in this country because of the awful weather...... Denny

there is enough space in the world for smokers and non smokers to be segregated if they so wish.
No point in going on holiday if you can't do what you want.
I totally agree with you Del....!
Let's face it, these no-smoking people had no-smoking compartments on trains and in restaurants, so why can't we smokers have the same privalage, or is it only no-smokers who pay for their NHS, at least they don't have to pay the heavy taxes we pay for our enjoyment which pays for most of the NHS I might add that I am not a drinker, in 2 weeks in Icmeler I had no more than 2 Efes, but I don't object to others drinking.
"these no smoking people"" makes it sound like we are to blame for the ban! While I do welcome this move, having gone to Turkey many times I can see that it will be difficult to enforce and I am sure smokers are resourceful enough to find a way around it! I do not have a problem with you smoking , your choice!! but why my holiday should be spoiled by it is another matter! On another forum there is talk of on the spot fines of 62 lira for dropping a cigerette butt on the floor or for smoking in prohibited places??
Totally agree del, and duffaire, i just hope it is the same when i get there in september.
i presume if the ban is implemented then we would not need to change anything we do, if i want to smoke, we sit on an outside table....
i only smoke on the balcony of where we stay, i wouldnt inflict my smoke on my kids or anyone else who said "excuse me, your fag smoke is in my face etc"
the only time it bugs me, is not been able to smoke at the airport when i am figgity and nervous.......i think there should be an outside space......otherwise people may drink to excess to combat the nerves...or be delayed borading cos they are still outside having a ciggi....
i do think it will be hard to police, but it visiter numbers are down, maybe its a way of extra revenue for the turkish...who knows
My guess would be that Turkey with it's (relatively) relaxed way of dealing with stuff like this will still be the best place to go for a smoke. As has already been said many of the restaurants are outside and will still allow smokers to indulge their addiction.
Smokers might also want to consider that quitting would pay for an extra holiday each year quite easily.
Karen I too think there should be somewhere for people to smoke at the airport, there always used to be.
I would have to be delayed by hours and then not be able to have a fag.
Mind you i did manage ok waiting in the airport for 2 hours then being delayed 3/4 of an hour and then flying to india, that ws quite along time without a fag.
check-in times are now so long before flights, I think it's unreasonable to make addicts wait that long.
"No point in going on holiday if you can't do what you want"
What a selfish viewpoint , never mind the Turks following the rest of the world in making this choice , or that they want their population to be as healthy as possible
Perhaps you should stay at home for your holidays , and by home , i mean your house
Surely the Turkish people should be able to benefit from being in smoke free enviroments, and get the benefits of the improved health that this will bring the Country. Turkey hasn't just been placed there for the benefit of people who want to go for a 'two week fag break' from the tighter restrictions in the rest of Europe.
I read that they tried a smoking ban years ago and it failed because it was ignored. We will have to wait and see.
As someone on here said before, they were there as the ban was implimented and a policeman was in a none smoking area and just lit up a fag!!!!!! what does that tell you!!!
The smoking room at Antalya airport is now closed.
If I can't do what I want (within reason) then I choose not to go.
Selfish , by my calculation , is to say "we don't like it, so you can't do it".
As I said before the wprld is big enough to cater for all tastes.
And as an afterthought, what gives any government the right to decide what is good for their population's health.
Surely your own health is your own concern.
But I don't expect the non smoker mafia to listen to any reason.
Governments are'nt stopping people from smoking, they are however protecting people who dont smoke from passive smoking in public places which I agree with.
and by the way , i gave up smoking 3 weeks ago , after over 15 years , so hardly anti smoking mafia , just when in rome....
I suggest you try magaluf
