booked for the very first time a holiday abroad for myself hubby and our two children.
We booking in may with travel republic all inclusive for the hotel hawaii palmanova mallorca.
I am so very dissapointed.
We arrived at the hotel Hawaii Palmanova Mallorca at 11.am, on monday 28th august2006.
DUE TO THE PREVIOUS ROOM OCCUPANT LEAVING THE ROOM LATE WE WERE NOT ABLE TO TAKE ACCUPANCY UNTILL AFTER 3.
Very unexceptable considering our journey and we had 2 children one who was disabled to cater for.
Initially when we booked and paid for this holiday we booked a sea view room, on our accommodation booking confirmation document it states in special requests, "please book a sea view as the system did not allowed us to do it".
We did not get a sea view room in fact a shabby little room overlooking the main noisy road. room 116.
We had 4 single beds in the room two of which were a put you up bed metal framed scrated and dirty and the base metal lats were all bent under the matresses.
This was not exceptable.
We also paid for all inclusive. What a joke.
Breakfast was barely warm regardless of when you entered the dining room, the bread was always rock hard too.
Bar snacks served by the pool were chargeable same with icecreams for the children.
Children could not even get a soft drink unless accompanied with an adult.
Alcohol was only house wine or sangria not what we drink or like. So it cost us alot for coke or lemonade as this is what we drank all week.
The food was that bad we had to eat outside of the hotel. Reciepts can be given if necessary.
We are furious about this and feel very ripped off.
Twice we had incidents towards are children from older children to which hotel staff did nothing about.
By the poolside there were no visible entertainments for the children on most days.
In fact while i recall the poolside lifeguard spent most days sitting in his chair sunning it up and sleeping, this was witnessed by another holidaying couple.
The same couple whom were at the hotel through cosmos also told us of there horror over the hotel service and food.
They had exactly the same as they too were all inclusive.
This was our first abroad holiday, we are very upset and very dissapointed as well as angry.
Since our return to the uk, i have found http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk very interesting as in total from the last 4 years people have had same problems at this hotel concerning the food etc.
I am that angry about it i feel like over riding travel republic and go straight to holiday watchdog instead at this moment in time i entrust my complaint to you for possible advice on what to do..
I canot belive that all these years spent in flamming blackpool and we decide for the first time to go obrad we have trouble like this.
I feel so ripped off out of pocket and sad.
Hi I'm sorry you had a bad experience on your first holiday abroad but I think you may be better off posting this in the holiday complaints forum for a better response

I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience.
Did you complain to the Holiday Rep when you were in resort? You'll find that unless you gave them an opportunity to put things right (e.g. fill an official complaint form in) it is going to be difficult (though not necessarily impossible) to get compensation.
As suggested, contact Ros. Good luck and keep us posted.

i have emailed a complaint to them last night.
this is the holiday complaints problems
However
I think if this had been my first holiday abroad, I would have done more research on the hotel before i booked anything, more so if i had a disabled child.
I would also have booked through a high street travel agent for my first time.
Hope it hasnt put you of and you get it sorted.
Good Luck
Whilst i cannot give any advise as i dont feel expert enough in the "complaints " section I know other people on the forum will be more than happy to help. i would just like to welcome you to HT and hope that once you get this sorted to your satisfation you can spend many happy hours with us.

i
here for some advice as to what to do right now.
In addition- I had a look at the hotel on Travel Republic and saw the AI advertised. I note that it did not specify what they meant by "AI". Were you given a definition? What is in your booking form? Before deciding what to put in your letter you will have to look closely at what you signed. I wouldn't for example make a big deal of no sea view- as this is usually a request only and no guarantee.
good luck with your claim. Whatever happens, don't let it put you off another holiday abroad. You were very unlucky this time. Just ask on HT first before you book again!

A little unfair there i think bullsniper for your first post on HT.
Dont think i was being unfair in anyway first post or not.
I mearly stated that if she had done the homework in the first place, they may well have avoided this situation and had a better time at a better hotel.
To err is human, and some are more human than others

When going through the booking process it does not state anywhere what is and what is not included in the All Inclusive package. From personal preference, that would have stopped me booking the holiday online until I had established the full facts on the All Inclusive package.

PS: Rather than emailing a complaint, you may wish to write to them recorded/special delivery.

But when you think about it ALL Inclusive should mean all inclusive especially if there are no exceptions printed.
As missunhappy said, it was their first time abroad, and she didn't know what to look out for in the blurb.
And although I agree with bullsniper that if you're a beginner, it might be better to go via a travel agent, we've heard so much about DIY holidays, that people are lulled into thinking it's the best thing to do.......
sorry to hear you had a disappointing time, missunhappy.
As to the sea view - that would not be guaranteed unless you had paid extra which I assume you did not.
We do DIY holidays all the while now but we are seasoned travellers having done lots of packages. BUT I thoroughly do my homework, searching endless websites. I certainly would not have done a diy holiday as my first holiday abroad. We also do not go all inclusive as a lot of holiday complaints seem to be about this type of holiday. As they say 'you get what you pay for'.

It is now kmba but it was originally posted in the Majorca forum until BIFF moved it
All Inclusive Food & Drinks
The AI programme consists of breakfast, lunch and dinner, all buffet style, served in the main restaurant. During meals local red or white wine, sangria, mineral water and fruit juices are offered. Paella for lunch is on offer once a week as well as various local dishes for dinner at the main restaurant. Soft drinks for children are available at the pool bars. Unlimited locally produced alcoholic and soft drinks are served from 10:00-24:00 at the main bar. Sparkling wine and cake for anniversaries & birthdays are also available.
Chargeable Extras
Imported alcohol, premium brands and cocktails are available at a charge.
so looks like this A/i is quite limited as to whats offered during the day especially as far as the children are concerned compared to those i have been on anyway but I do believe travel republic should of at least given you details of whats included or made them available.
at any point in the booking did they give you any details or a warning telling you all A/Is vary and you must check whats included.

I'm very sorry that your first experience of All Inclusive was a poor one. I dont think you constantly need to be told "told you so". All Inclusive regardless of where you go should mean exactly that Everything Included, having gone on a number of AI holidays to the Domincan, Cyprus, Mexico AI includes everything, from entertainment, food, drink or it would be construed as Half Board or Full Board!! Get in touch with your tour operator and read the riot act what you got was a very substandard holiday with very few amenities....somebody has to be made responsbile. Good Luck
Also normall all inclusives can vary from hotel to hotel there is no set standard to what or not is included.
That is why you should do your homework before you book.

samsung753 ... your sentiments echo those of some of our other members, namely kmba and BULLSNIPER. Your IP address also appears to match theirs, in fact you are the only three users to share that address. Various other similarities have also been identified. Could you perhaps explain these coincidences ??
David
Sad isnt it david....but how can you tell they are the same person?....nicole
