I new it was one hotel i was just wondering if different tour operators use different sides?ie first choice mares side, thomson lunar side?Which ever i,m sure its going to be fantastic
Has anyone used a differant address in the last month and had replys from it? I want to contact them before we go as i need to request something.
Any help/info would be great thanks !
my wife and i booked to go to this resort last year, we were due to go august 1st tis year with thomson.
however we were contacted by thomson about a month ago and they told us that half the facilities were going to be closed between may and the end of august for a major refurb.
as we had chosen the facility due to the size of the complex and the ability to use all of it we decided to cancell.
thomson gave us our money back in full with no fuss at all.
i thought that you would like to know this so that you to can make a decision.
there are a number of posts on this subject on the carribbean discusion forum , well worth a look.
hope this helps, .
Some of the rooms were in need of a refurb though but it was clean and well kept - as for the restaurants and things I dont know what they're doing to refurbish them as everything was fairly new anyway. They had just built a new amphitheatre when we were there and it was great. I'm jealous of all you lucky people going there this year - I would have but my holidays are in July this year so I dont want to risk the weather not being as good but I will be back next year! Hope you all have a great time.
Hi Pippy
Ah, I think I've just read it then!
If anyone has any other info any thing at all about sol luna mares cuba i would love to read it, any thing from advise to suggestions i would love to read it all.
many thanks
Hi, bit of a strange question but what is the air conditioning like at sol luna mares cuba, would you say it is good? Do you feel nice and cool in your room? Can you change the settings manually or is it set automatic by the hotel?
The address i have got is sol.rio.luna.mares@solmelia.com both me and my mum have emailed the hotel and neither of us have had a reply.
If any one can help it would be great.
Many thanks
What would people call reasonable for tipping
The waiters for bringing over your drink
The Sunbed man
The maid
The man that refills the fridge
What are people tipping in etc, English money? Cuban money? Toiletries? stationary? if so how much in each?
Also so could someone tell me the dress code for Men & Women for dinner at sol luna mares cuba!
Is 3/4's and t-shirt suitable for men?
Is short skirt and top suitable for women?
Any help would be great
Thanks
*Edit to restore normal font. Pippy*
Men are expected to wear long trousers for dinner in the evenings but this rule is not too strictly applied
I am sure you will enjoy your holiday we did when we were there at the begining of May 06
I hope the weather stays dry for you Cuba is a lovely green place so it does rain now and then
I wish I'd been getting 6.5 CUCs to the £ in March! The CUC is loosely pegged to the Euro so you get roughly 1.5 CUCs to the £ at the moment. Had Cuba still been operating their tourist economy in US dollars your £s would have gone much further as the current rate is pretty close to $2=£1.
Live mid-market rates as of 2006.06.08 20:40:53 UTC.
1.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds = 1.70630 CUC
Cuba Convertible Pesos
1 GBP = 1.70630 CUC 1 CUC = 0.586065 GBP
The CUC was tied to the US $ until about a year or so ago, but it is no longer
Live mid-market rates as of 2006.06.08 20:45:53 UTC.
1.00 USD
United States Dollars = 0.925900 CUC
Cuba Convertible Pesos
1 USD = 0.925900 CUC 1 CUC = 1.08003 USD
Live mid-market rates as of 2006.06.08 20:47:53 UTC.
1.00 USD
United States Dollars = 0.542693 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds
1 USD = 0.542693 GBP 1 GBP = 1.84266 USD
so if you were only getting 1.5 CUC to the £ you were robbed
the worst I got was 5.6 to the £
the best 6.6 to the £
cheers HC
The air conditioning we found to be very good - it was a welcome relief from the heat outside- you can set it yourself but be warned if you set it in the morning before you go out the maid comes in and tends to turn it off when she cleans your room. They do this to save money as it is very expensive to run, but it doesn't take long to cool down again once you turn it back on!
