Hi LoobyLoo.
we booked seperately. (much cheaper) easyjet flights we booked in Jan are £100 pp more expensive now. and Hotel we booked on Saturday, through Lastcheck.co.uk the cheapest online travel place I have ever found, we waited as we were trying to find not only a great deal but a hotel that had great reveiws too. really pleased as 10 night all inclusive at Sol y Mar and the flights has cost us £450 pounds each. Just got the suntan cream to get now hope you have a great time, Not long now, hope to see you there. Have fun.

hey thats great, i have been to sharm about 10 times now and love it. I am taking my mom this time and we have booked for 2 weeks so no doubt see u there
Decided on here after reading 18 reviews on Tripadvisor, all very positive.
Not so sure about location, have tried various maps and Google earth but cannot find hotel, any info would be appreciated.

The hotel looked nice in the photos, but dont be fooled it is very dangerous place the lobby floors are like an sheet of ice so slippey and as for the pool side my partner fell over and cracked his head because the tiles are very slippery, and the life guard didnt even ask if he was ok. No disabled access no lifts, so if you have problems getting up stairs you wont make it to the bar or shops, the stair case is spiral and slippey.
The food was the same every day but just cooked in a different way, and the portions of meat was not enough for a child, we had to ask for more, the healthy food corner was exactly the same food every day for the 14 days boiled chicken green beans and white rice, some nice desserts though.
The lack of entertainment made it even more boring, it was 4 Russian animators trying their best to get the other guests to do the entertaining, only 1 night in the 14 days they have a local woman in to sing for the night.
Very disappointed with the location, had to take taxis to get anywhere, the hotel taxi or shuttle sevice is a rip off they charge twice the amount of the local taxis, it is worth walking up the main road and a taxi will stop but make sure you haggel a price never pay what they ask, if you want to do any excursions book them through one of the locals on the beach much cheaper. Definatly would not rate this hotel 4 star .No cash exchange in hotel, most shops will take pound, euro or dollar.
Just reading your review and I dont understand people like yourself.
You complain its in the middle of nowhere, its a new hotel, if you had looked on the net where u were going before u did u would have saw its isolated because its in a new resort area of Sharm. so thats down to yourself for not looking before u book.
Floors bein slippery? Its about 4 months old the hotel, new floors are shiny and slippery! Silly remark.
I respect its your view on your holiday but anyone commenting on location for this hotel and saying its bad, you should have looked before you booked.

luclin has come on and as an actual guest who as visited the hotel posted some first hand information for others who are as you suggest looking before they book.
So can there be no more disrespectful comments to other members who take the time to come on and post information and their experience please.
Thanks
Graham
I said I respect their review so that is showing courtesy IMO
The food was the same each night even though there were different themes (supposedly) and the entertainment was minimal which meant the evenings were quite boring.
I myself did check the location and knew that there wasn't much around there but I did not expect to be ripped off by the hotel taxi's just to go 4 miles down the road to naama bay. There's no public transport (or I just didn't see any), which would really help a hotel like this.
The hotel IS nice and the staff are helpful but they have a lot to learn, which is understandable due to it being a new hotel.
All in all for the price you get what you pay for really so I can't complain too much. If I could do it again I would choose a hotel closer to naama bay and on the beach as I feel that would have made a lot of difference but obviously you are likely to pay a lot more for that luxury.
Just returned from this friendly hotel on the 26th March, we spent 2 weeks there and had a fab time and definately will return. The hotel is in a remote location but so are all the other sharm hotels unless you want to stop in the hustle and bustle of Namma Bay and pay extra for it! The rooms were lovely and the food was great, there was something to eat for everyone, there was wine and beer on tap so you just help yourself. They were for ever cleaning and the staff were so friendly. I suggest that if you want to go in to Namma Bay or Soho Square just work to the main road at the top of the hotel drive (3mins walk), there was plenty of taxis stopping and asking for a fare just barter with them we paid no more than 20LE and other people in the hotel were willing to share a taxi would only work out at 5LE per person(about 60p). I have no complaints about this hotel at all I stopped at the Sheraton Sharm last year and that really was the pits with terrible food, this hotel was half the price (£500.00 for 2 weeks)so it was money well spent! You only get wot you pay for so the next time I suggest the people that complain should book the Ritz, but anyone looking for a sun soaked, friendly, clean, modern and good food hotel then try this one, its brilliant.
FYI - I met someone who stayed at the Ritz and he said it's not very good either....may be you should keep your sarcastic comments to yourself.
What's with the reply? None of it was sarcastic, just my opinion. No need to start a argument. As I got told, read the rules
OK no more of this silliness, everybody is now aware of the T&C's so can we now get back on to the subject of the Sol Y Mar in our normal friendly manner.
Thank you
Graham
Stayed at Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay for a week in March 2010 and enjoyed my stay. I knew about the location before going so not an issue. Its approx £24 per person per night, for a decent room including air conditioning. food (reasonable and varied) from 8.00 until 22.30. alcohol and soft drinks from 9.00 until 24.00. Everywhere was very clean, pool area had plenty of sun-beds (towels included). As others had said animation not up to much, but depends what you expect for your money, and for me it I thought that it was fantastic value.
Sorry i've been MIA from this discussion for so long! (lots of uni work)
So, our holiday is approaching nice and quickly! I noticed a few of you have already been!
I just wondered, what are the Wifi rates like in the hotel, and how much/what are are the 'internet services' Thompson claim that the hotel has? Have they got a few computers dotted around, or is it strictly wifi in your rooms that you can connect to via laptops?
thanks!

If I remember correctly it was something like 30-40 egyptian pounds for a couple of hours that you have use up within 24 hours or half the price for an hour........it was something along those lines....whatever the price was it was far too expensive.
I was just trying to avoid any accidental roaming charges from my blackberry by sending emails instead of texts, but for that price i don't think i'll bother!
Thanks!
-amelia
That works out about £3.50 - £4.50 for a couple hours is that expensive for internet usage? I use free Wi-Fi so don't know the cost's now
I guess £4 for a few hours isn't that bad, and if its about half that for an hour, then that's cool! i don't mind paying that every few days to send an update email!
do they have webcams on the computers? i'd be nice to be able to send a picture of how tanned we're getting half way through the week! haha!
-amelia
What is the food like/ How is the hotel entertainment wise?
How about the location? Isit close enough to a beach/local shops-restaurants?
Any recommended Excursions?
and lastly... how much spending money will we need to take??? The hotel is all inclusive, We are non-smokers so wont be buying fags and probabley wont buy any/much alcohol to bring home either.
Thank you in advance!
Sarah
