I saw a great deal for this hotel from our local airport earlier today and after reading loads of recent reviews I am VERY tempted to book it for next Easter. I have been researching some possible destinations and didn't even contemplate Egypt (due to price) until hubby asked if I fancied going somewhere where the sun would be more or less guaranteed in April. I checked out some prices thinking that I wouldn't fancy paying them (it's a second hol because we have 2 weeks in the summer) but I got such a good price, my finger's been hovering over the 'book' button.
I may very well book before the weekend's out as I'm afraid the price will go up
We went to this hotel in sept 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed it. You do have to get taxis if you want to go out at night however and I would stay away from Nama Bay but visit Soho Square. Hotel was very clean lovely rooms and food was satisfactory. Gorgeous pool and great staff. Would recommend for a week or 10 days but 2 weeks a bit much. Very very hot. Air con fantastic. Sharm airport an experience. If you want an all incl week of r and r. Book! But be aware you cannot walk to anywhere. Couple of shops in hotel where you can but water crips juice etc. hope this helps
I'm trying to make my mind up between here and Spain Our usual holidays have been poolside in very hot countries but we have enjoyed our last 2 Easters walking around in cooler Spanish temps and enjoyed that too. Watch this space!
To be fair most of them are somewhat isolated shirley. Sharm still is pretty much Red sea on one side of the hotel and dust on the other . Soho square has really put sharks bay on the Map now, For a couple of years it was still very quiet and lacked atmosphere but it was positively buzzing there over easter. Some hotels will be nearer than others and although I dont know where sol Y Mar is located in SB I cant see it being much of a taxi ride compared with getting down to NB. I was surprsied how much there was there .
Thanks again Lyn. My finger's positively twitching now
book it girl .. stop dithering
As Lyn says some of the hotels are a bit closer than others to Soho Square, but its not a real issue and it is only a place you would want to wander around for a couple of hours for a change of scenery if you are happy with your AI.
I quite like Naama Bay, but am seasoned with it, so have no trouble ignoring the hassle, for the benefit of going there for the change of scenery and a walk along the prom a couple of times a week. Often you dont even need to negotiate taxis as many hotels lay on a shuttle to Naama and back for a token charge.

Guess what girls? I've only gone and done it Yipee, I've booked it! Thomson from cardiff on 4th April- can't wait now.
You go and enjoy . I wish it was me. The hotel does have taxis and it literally is only 5 mins to Soho Sq and it's not expensive. Have a great time, I have to wait till August for some sun this year.
There is loads of info on here, if you work your way through a few of the back pages of posts, and in general it's still all pretty current, & I am sure folk will chip in and answer any questions you have over the months, if they can.

We are def not looking for diving- hubby doesn't even like water but I wouldn't mind a visit to the beach for some snorkeling. It's more of a flop and drop holiday in the sun
I think you will be fine for a flop and drop there as nearly all hotels have multipule pools with sunbeds parasols etc, even the smaller hotels seem to have a couple of pools and even if they are not beach side they will have a sister hotel that has a beach that you will be able to use free of charge, so sounds ideal for what hou want.
Hi Shirley, a friend of mine goes to the hotel you have booked every year and raves about it. Sounds like a good deal to me and at least you will be guaranteed some sunshine.

Way to go shirley .. . nice to do something impulsive for a change , Good for you.
I've just booked to go with Shirley on this holiday. I've got a feeling that the Egypt forum is going to be busy, closer to the date. Although we went to Sharm over Easter 2011, I'm sure I'll have lots of new questions
Brilliant Helen .
The themed speciality restaurants are not included in the AI package. Do any of the members that have stayed there know what sort of prices they charge in these restaurants please?
Thanks
I can find out for you on Tuesday Shirley, my work mate doesn't work Mondays!
That would be great if you could Sharon Wouldn't mind visiting one of the themed restaurants of an evening- never heard of them not being included in the AI before. We normally get at least one visit a week included in the AI package as long as you book.

Only just seen this Helen. Nice to see folk booking the Red Sea area again as I think confidence seemed to drop from the market for a while.
