Yes it is hard to get a bit of walk to go on in Sharm.
Went to the Hilton Sharks Bay last year & walked over to Soho Square (not a square it's a street really) & walked along one side and then back down t'other, also took cabs to Naama Bay, where there is a really long prom beachside, probably takes 20 mins to walk one way & we would walked back as well. You do have to put up with a bit of hassle but nowhere near as much as the main drag. But it seems a bit odd to have to get in a cab first to go for a walk IUKWIM

We went to Soho Square in a cab, and had a look at the Hilton as Lynwestie was staying there at the same time. Hubby did go out of the hotel for a walk, but was back within 30 mins, as he couldn't stand the hassle. It was at the time of the shark attacks so we didn't spend too much time at the beach either which was a shame.
Helen you should of came and found me
Couldn't afford to pay the posh man at the gate Lyn
Hi Shirley, my friend thinks the a la cartes worked out about £15 per person. Sounds a lot to me
Thanks for that Sharon. I'm not sure how much food normally costs in Egypt - in Shark's bay and Soho square for example so I've nothing to compare that price with. Compared to back home, I think it's a good price- it will depend on what you get for the £15 of course. For that price I'd be prepared to give it a go unless one of our Egypt regulars will tell us it's much cheaper in town.
Shirley there aren't many eateries in Soho Square, and from what I saw it was quite expensive.
Soho Square doesn't have many eateries, there is a pub that does steaks but I haven't been there and beleive it's expensive by Egyptian standards.
There is a group of four oriental restaurants, looks like one from the outside, but when you go upstairs they have four dining rooms/kitchens.
They are called Bombay, Mai Thai, Zen & Saffron representing the different cuisines of Indian, Thai, Chinese & Lebanese.
We ate in Zen & a 3 course meal for 2, a couple of large beers, 2 soft drinks and a large water came to 500 LE including tax and service. (this can be 18% of the cost).
Nice and a fairly upmarket experience, smart dress required but at £50 it's expensive. It really depends on what you like I guess and if you feel you need a night away from the buffet.
We could eat and drink in Namma Bay at the likes of Viva Beach & Tam Tams for about 300 LE, but you might find Naama Bay a bit scary Shirley, so I worry about suggesting it.
We dont really drink wine in restaurants in Egypt due to cost and variable quality.

Sorry Graham. As we've booked here for our first holiday in Egypt, I'm getting a bit overexcited and posting all my questions in the one place. I've been on the other thread and read Doe's reply. Thanks Doe
