I looked on their web page and it says that one of the properties used to be called Brisa Resort. There's a Brisa Resort next to the Thomas Cook Office in Calangute. If you know Montanna's.......it's right opposite. Going by the pictures on the web page I'd say it's the same place.
It's recently been painted a very bright blue colour.
The other property is close to Infantaria according to the web page - not sure on this one exactly but will keep an eye out for it.

Hope this is helpful, GFF xx

Thanks GFF your a star  booked it the other day really cheap, where abouts in Calangute is it as I`m not too familiar with the area being a Vagator /Anjuna hippy 8) ? all I know is the road to Baga and the big open space at the top of the main road, thanks

Hi FTV,

Glad to be of service!!!
If you look on John the map (Calangute section) - scroll to the bottom until you see the orange building "Panchyat" - SoMy is on that same road about 100 - 150 metres further on down. Directly opposite the hotel is the back road to Calangute (now known by most as Molly Malones Road), this takes you up to the roundabout at the bottom of Baga Road / Calangute High St. On the map it's the road with the "Evening Star Restaurant" on it. Not too far out of town - plenty of bars and restaurants in that area and the Molly Malones road has smaller side roads that lead to the quiet end of Calangute beach which has some good shacks.

I'll be interested to know what you think of the hotel - keep us updated.

Help! Somy Resort - advice needed prior to (maybe) booking this. I have read the reviews but getting confused with Somy Brisa and locations :?  Are these 2 different hotels or one and the same? Been quoted £526 pp for 14 nights. Thanks to anybody who can help!!!!!!

Hi. We're staying here Easter 2008 (well 1 week here and 1 week at Lucia on the beach). I believe it was the Brisa resort and is now Somy ?? anyway - I've been told it's near the Nizmar. Reviews seem good for a basic hotel so we chanced it because it was cheaper to go here on a package than the flight only price.

This is what we thought as had planned to go DIY again. OH can't do more than 2 weeks in November because of work so the Somy and the price quoted looks a fair alternative. If it's near the Niz then thats fine as in the right location for catching up with our friends over there. As you say, the reviews look good for a basic hotel. As long as it's clean and has a nice pool I will be more than happy - bet the beds will be rock hard though  I just got a bit muddled by the two different hotel names. I think I shall just get it booked up then I can start the countdown to lift off all over again :!: :D I still don't remember seeing this hotel before though - must have been looking in the wrong direction (dodging the traffic)

Go for it, I stayed there in March, very friendly staff, good location, nice pool etc. Upgrade to a/c rooms when you get there for £50 for 14 nights, the rooms are massive, bar closes at 11pm each night so no rowdy late night drinking and noise . Pm me you e-mail and I will send you a few pics

We booked with Thomas Cook. 2 weeks £526 with A/C. Had trouble booking it on the net as they had a blip so we had to phone them. They gave us internet price. Don't know this hotel but reviews seem fine for its star rating so quite happy to give it a go! :)
