Hi Goangranny, I have been to both Egypt and South Africa and found them both fantastic places to visit -- and totally different!
Egypt is a completely different (Islamic) culture with enough fascinating historical artifacts to keep you interested for months! Lovely friendly people.
South Africa is a beautiful place - not so many historical things to see, but lovely country side and such friendly people. Can't you manage both in the next couple of years? Jenny x
