hi fiona its hard to say and it depends on which resort your going to last year we went in dec and it was unusually quiet anita
I just thought it would be nice to have a look at south. But maybe we will just visit instead. We haven't firmed up plans yet( well it is Oct 2007 we are talking about) but we have considered Mumbai and Delhi as well. ( flying into Mumbai and out of Delhi) I don't suppose we can do all that in 2 weeks so maybe we will give the south a miss! Decisions, decisions!
hi fiona we were thinking of flying into Delhi going to Agra to the taj mahal spending a couple of days doing this , then going down to goa and eventually flying home from mumbai but still unsure anita
Dont miss out on going to the south of Goa, If you stay in the north, get a taxi to take you south and stay in one of the lovely huts on the beach for a couple of nights just for a break from the manic north!! Really inexpensive and the peace and tranquility are well worth it!
Ray.
our possible itinery but back to front!
Ray
trouble is I don't think anywhere in Goa is supposed to be manic in october. Mind you, we did think that we might give it a try anyway. We can always make our way back if its too quiet!
we sat drinking fresh coffee out side our huts and the owners shack watching the dolphins none of us had got dressed everyone just got up and came for coffee in their nightclothes and sat for ages chilled out soooo relaxing .
ps i dont mean just my family it seemed to be the norm for eveyone to wander in for breakfast unwashed etc.. and chill for an hour or so ahh bliss roll on oct anita
re the huts in S goa in October, I would be very surprised if they had got their licences, built them, and been up and runnig by Oct., even in the north the ammount of huts on the go early on depends sometimes on the rate at which the licences are granted, in the quieter south the demand is'int there to take a chance and start building before the paperwork is in place Alan
don't think I could have persuaded the other half to stay in a beach hut! He is already going to get a bit of a shock with the hotel standards after holidays in the Far East. ( We spent £60 a night for a 5 star in Saigon with 2 hours of free drinks and eats at night and breakfast)
fiona your other half might be converted by the charm of goa and not bother about the standard of accomadation cant wait for your report
anita
Oh he wants to go Anita! So many people who love the Far East also love Goa. Trouble with us is that we are restricted in when we can go.As a teacher I can not go away in the peak season for Goa so we have always chosen somewhere else up till now. Also, although I do have 2 weeks at Easter and October husband works shifts in the North Sea and often is away for part of that fortnight.
I stayed at Palolem early October last year and most of the huts were up and running..the one's that weren't up were on their final stages of construction, only problem with early Oct is that there are still some final monsoon showers that can take a few days off your calender like it did last year..when I was at Palolem april this year there was talk of opening even earlier, mid spetember or so..
Cheers
Do make sure you go into Margoa (Goa's old Capital) it's amazing you get to a railway crossing in your tuk tuk and it's like the Whacky Races cartoon

Quick memory from staying a couple of nights in Agonda. Getting up around 7 stepping down from the beach hut onto a fantastic paradise beach, then taking a stroll along the waterfront watching the dolphins. The fisherman are setting out to sea and as I reached the estuary at one end of the beach I spotted a couple of sea otters bobbing up and down fishing for there breakfast I just sat and watched the village wake up and then walked back to our hut, by this time my wife and daughter were awake and it was time for breakfast and another day in paradise
Hey callum, I knew we could coax you into posting. Fiona, Tightjock is a wealth of information on Goa it's great to have him as a member.
Yes, I know all about tightjock! It is good to see him posting.
p.s. Margao is a great market town to exlore Tato's is a great place for breakfast (upstairs is air-con) and Banjara is a great place for lunch/dinner or for chines Gaylin which is further up the hill from Banjara (Tato's is in a lane off to the left of the same street if facing uphill) Longhuino's is a great place for a cold beer and to watch the wofld go by (Its on the corner of the main square) The fish market is also great to stroll around (and you are likely to bump into some of the rest/shack owners as they get there fresh fish.
All about
Gaylins is the business gorgeous food, I like the indoor market in Margoa it's like a rabbit warren, some of thos stalls do niff a bit though I got 2 kilo of King Prawns for 300 rps in Margoa, cooked them our selves one night and got the shack owner in Emerciana to cook them for us the next night, oh wow it's lunchtime and I'm starvin', it's raining' and I want sunshine! Oh heck I just wanna be in Goa!
hi tightjock we stayed at the beach huts in agonda Madhu's shack we fell in love with the place and will be returning this oct , did you walk to the other end of the beach the sea is calm in a little bay there and safe to swim in , and there are monkey's on the hill that come down to the beach when its quiet anita
