Maga i agree with you. When we go to Protaras we base our budget on English prices. That way, if things are cheaper than in England (which a lot of times they are) its a bonus. 
We save up all year to go on holiday, so we arent bothered what the prices are when we get there.....after all, we are on holiday! We want to enjoy ourselves, not "moan" about how much things cost!

no way, on holiday i spend, i mean thats what i saved up for, you dont save up not to spend it on something your meant to be enjoying.

I am going to Protaras with my fiance on 25/9 for 2 weeks. Self catering. How much spending money does anyone recommend? We just like going for meal, then to pubs, not to bothered about clubs etc.
Help would be appreciated.

when we go to Protaras we take around £1400 spending money for 2weeks. There is me and my hubby, and 2children. 
This usually lasts us no problem, and we always hire a car, go to Ayia Napa waterpark and Funfair. £500 per week for a couple sound about right. You will have a great time!

We came back from Pernera 2 weeks ago.me,wife and 2, 15 yr old girls.We spent about £1400 and we were half board!!!!
Did the water park and used taxis to Aya Nappa and Protaras a few times but I found Cyprus to be more expensive than we had anticipated.It was our first visit,we usually go to the Balearics so we found our money didn't go as far as it does there.
The cheapest pint and spirit and mixer is £cy 1.60 each so thats £2 or 2.80 Euros, I only paid that much in the hotels before and not in normal bars.
We enjoyed Cyprus but as i say your money wont go very far.That said we found eating out for lunch to be very reasonable generally.

Had to laugh - I agree with wayne - we are 2 adults and 2 kids, half board to Protaras last year and we will be doing the same again this year. We took exactly the same amount - £1,400 and it was just enough! Did come back with a bit of money, but find Spain etc cheaper. (Cyprus much nicer though, so I know which one I'd prefer!)
We must budget our money well then! We always go self catering, eat out all the time (we do have breakfast in our apts though) and have a few drinks on an evening. And to say we are from Yorkshire aswell...... We budget on £100 per day... this suits us

. as for paying £2 a pint i dont think thats to bad at all up here in edinburgh if you go to a good pub it can cost anything up to £3 a pint and at the end of the day like ive said before we are on holiday and have saved up all year to go and im going to enjoy meyself.

Exactly my thoughts. Im not bothered how much things are when i go abroad. I save up hard all year, and part of my holiday is eating and drinking out every night. Theres so many places to choose from :shock
Lasy year in Protaras our "local" near our apts were selling a pint of Carlsberg for 90cents-we spent a bit of time in there
We bank on paying English prices while there, and more often than not, they are lower anyway, so we are hapy. Thats my tip anyway.

We are taking arounf £1800 as you say maga you have saved all year for htis so enjoy but i like to do a bit of shopping when i am away on Shoes!! Shoes!! and more Shoes!! so i do enjoy myself
