Well I am or was a regular visitor to the Balearics and never ever found it cheaper to holiday or live there, Cyprus is still the place to do this, problem the cost of flights here leave you less money to spend unfortunately, that's why I never go anywhere else now, or fly out!! 8) I mean who would want to, my council tax for the year here is £90...no miss print! :o

From my experience for cheap beer the main tourist areas are often best - more "happy hours" available, £1 a pint, cheap cocktails etc, but for food search the back streets, or stray away from the tourist area completely. We've found a load of great tavernas in quieter areas offering meals for £3.50 - £4.

I suppose the golden rule is to explore your resort early on and see what's available.

Hi Everyone
Could someone please advise how much spending money would be needed for two people, self catering for one week in protaras. We will probably be on the beach all day so most of our money will be spent in the evenings on meals and wine/beer. We are not really heavy drinkers but may have one night in Aiya Napa.

Any guesses?

Hi Rach - I'm off in a couple of weeks to Protaras for a week self catering. I am taking £400, and so is my friend, which I'm sure will be plenty! We are not big drinkers and will be going out for a nice meal each night. We will buy some stuff at the supermarket for snacks - water, fruit bread and cheese etc and will probably have breakfast at the villa and maybe even lunch some days. I always worry that I won't have enough money after that happening once in Majorca, but think this will be fine. How much were you thinking of taking?

Thanks

I'm really not sure. Ideally I'd like about £800-£900 for the wekk between us but I've just found out I'm not getting paid as much as I expected this month so I'm a bit worried. We only booked last week and we're going next week so no saving up time! Argh!!

Hi, my friend and I spent a fortnight in Ayia Napa last year and spend about £800 each (exlucing a couple of excursions) however, we do drink quite a bit :glynis and also eat out every night and sometimes during the day too.

We're going to Pernera in June and reckon on about a grand for the fortnight, however, we will be hiring a car for a few days and going on a couple of trips no doubt.

We are planning to take £1000 each. So hopefully this will be enough. Taking cash line cards just incase. Only 3 weeks and 6 days to go. Cnt wait!!

I think that sounds plenty, look at the post above by the the ones who went to Aiya Napa and spent £800 each for a fortnight. I think you'll be fine! :D

Yeah read above post, so £1000 should be enough. Getting really excited now. :D

I'm a bit worried. Will £800 be enough for two people for one week?

I would seriously have thought so...

Cheers Pubdog, I know everyone spends different amounts but I've just heard a few people say that Cyprus is expensive and we do intend to eat out everynight too.

rach_24_ncl - Dont worry you will have plenty, as I said me and my mate are out drinking everynight (usually until the small hours!) and we eat out every night and obviously have to eat during the day, either out or baguettes etc from the supermarket. Have a great holiday!
