I went to ayia napa with my boyfriend last year and we took £750 each, we went for two weeks and done lots of things with our money, we are fairly heavy drinkers and were out clubbing most nights also eating out on nearly every meal. £750 each was plenty of money so i am sure £800 will be fine! Don't worry! :D

Hi we went for 2 weeks last year and this was the first holiday where we've ever run out of money. We were'nt wasteful but managed to spend £1000 between us and that was half board. We also paid for trips with a credit card. Beautiful place but found it very expensive. Speaking to friends who are regulars to Cyprus they also say it's an expensive place, especially if you go walkabout and tend to eat out.

i dont think cyprus is any more expensive than any other holiday destination. i think people forget that a cypriot pound is not the same as our pound. we took £700 for a week last september as everyone said we would need it and we came back with over £200! we paid for beds and umbrellas on fig tree bay beach every day, had breakfast or dinner and an evening meal every day and i wouldnt like to say how many cocktails, vodka and cokes and bottles of mythos and keo we had every night. we bought three snorkel and mask sets(one snapped) and then we bought all the family prezzies in the airport. if you have got money left buy a pizza slice in the airport, the best airport food we have ever eaten!!

enjoy!! lindsay. x

Hi HelenT :D

I don't find Cyprus expensive at all :D We went last year and took our two grandchildren with us.

We had £1400 and hired a car for 11 days. We ate out every day, travelled the island,

the kids ate at least 6 ice lollies a day each at £1.20 each (gosh they were huge  ) had

their juice, hubby and I had brandy sours and beers, we bought them two t-shirts each and pressies for

their pals and goodness knows what else and still came back with money
oh yeah I brought back ciggies for my daughter and booze for us

Hi bluebabe Speak as you find. We found it expensive as compared with Ibiza Majorca and the Greek Islands, but it certainly wouldn't stop us returning.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone could tell how much prices of drinks are in clubs and bars in ayia napa?

Thanks

Surly this will depend on the individual and his or hers taste, if you know where to eat and drink Cyprus is much cheaper than most Mediterranean resorts, if you chose to eat in expensive restaurants then you will get through your holiday money as fast as anywhere else, I can eat well and even have a few drinks for less than a tenner, so getting through a £1000 in a fortnight would be an unessesary extravagance, many do not see just how reasonable Cyprus can be, my rates are less than a hundred pounds a YEAR! petrol is 53cents a Ltr, large bottle of beer £1.30cents, get that in the UK or Spain, don't think so, you can eat and drink as I have just said for less than most resorts in the sun, but if you chose to push the boat out then that is your choice, but Cy is not expensive ...

You can go through a lot of money if you are not careful. Three years ago we stayed at the Akti beach (2 adults and 2 kids) in Paphos on half board and somehow we went through more than £1300.00 and we are not big drinkers! Still scratch my head about that!

I would too...never found a country in the Med that is cheaper than here at the moment...but on holiday things are different as I do realise, eating out most days and the odd drink for the family can mount up even in Cyprus try doing the same in the UK, double it!!

It is all relative, Cyprus is very reasonable but as everywhere you do need to know where to go..Some Cypriots do know how to fleece you as do many other nationals in the Med..ask a local where to eat and drink you could save a fortune as in your case..

The big problem with Cyprus is the cost of getting here, unfortunately flight cost are prohibitive and unless the CTO* do something about this they will lose out big time with tourism, we have told them but they just will not do anything about this, if I were someone wishing to come here, I may try Spain, Italy, even Bulgaria where it is cheap to get there leaving you with far more of that spending money, and it just may kick the CTO into it's lethargic response, Cyprus is losing it's tourism industry and they only have themselves to blame.

Hi Lindsay (Lordy) sounds like you had a wonderful holiday without spending too much so there's hope for me yet! Was the £700 you took each or between 2 of you? I'm staying in Fig Tree Bay next week, is it really beautiful, I can't wait!

By the way everyone, my local is The Baum in rochdale, it's a really old traditional pub and the sell beer from all over the world. I don't live in Rochdale anymore but mu family do and as I'm flying from Manchester I will certainly be enjoying a pre holiday drink there this weekend!
