Thanks claire, glad to know ben apple back again this year, i think he is the only one from last year, kids thought he was really good, cant wait to go back again
I can't believe I'm admitting this but we're staying at the Golden Star not the Rising Star. How on earth could I forget which hotel were staying in!!

You'll be glad to know that from the outside the Golden Star looked great. Also the restaurant we ate at every evening is part of their grounds.
You'll have a great time and as its a sister complex to the Rising Star you can use their pool etc too. The Golden Star is the quieter place with no entertainment but in your welcome meeting they'll tell you to go to the Rising Star if you want day/eve entertainment as in our welcome meeting they told us to go to the Golden Star pool if we wanted peace and quiet!

Hi. i am going to aiya napa on sunday 16th for two weeks with my friends. Im a little worried about my spending money. We have been to magaluf, ibiza, tenerife etc before and have always managed with about £700 pounds. I have £700 for cyprus but just worried that with the exchange rate not being too good that i'm not going to have enough bearing in mind that we will be out drinking every night. Do you think we will be ok? we are going self catering but only usually eat one small cheap meal a day on hol! Taking my debit card just incase but dont really want to use it! x x

We went to Protaras for two weeks and got back last week.
There are 4 of us, 32, 34, 6 and 3 years old. Like you we ate one main meal a day and boiled eggs etc,. for breakfast.
We went drinking everynight somenights till 3 in the morning and hired a car for 2 days.
We took £1000 for the four of us and spent our last £5 on the plane on the flight home.
I found that cyprus is as cheap or as dear as you make it as with all holidays. If your gonna eat peppered steak everynight then its gonna be dear but if you fancy and all you can eat pizza hut buffet for £3.95 or mousakka for £4.00 then you'll be fine.
Check out where you are exchanging your currency though and never do it in the hotel.

We are thinking of booking a 2 week holiday to either Turkey or Cyprus in the summer, we have never been to these places before.
We would like to know what the cost of living is in Cyprus i.e the average price of evening meals, a pint, glass of wine, ice creams?
If there is a difference in resorts, we are looking at Paphos.

Prices vary a lot. You can get a beer for less than CY£1, but expect to pay around CY£1.50-2.00+ in the tourist areas.
Ice cream is typically around 50c a scoop.
Glass of wine around CY£1
Evening meals again vary a lot. From around CY£5 upwards depending on how far the boat goes out

I would say that the costs on the whole in the tourist parts of Paphos are generally much the same as you would find in the UK.
We normally stay for two weeks on a B&B basis, we are a family of four and as a rough guide, I take around £1200.00 to cover meals, drinks etc. However, this does not include for car hire etc.

To give you some sort of idea. I go alone and a meal on the main strip for me would be approx cy£7.50. (about £9 sterling)
Beer is approx cy£1.70 on the strip. (about £2 sterling.)
The other things i'm afraid I can't help with.
It's not the cheapest place to go but well worth it.

Great time thanks jim. It just wasn't long enough as I only went for 5 days.
Silly of me really with approx 24 hours of travelling as well I was only really on holiday for 4 days.

Hi, my 18 year old daughter and her friend are going on their first holiday alone next Sunday (17th) to Ayia Napa.
She is worried about how much money she will need and is having a bit of a panic!
Can anybody advise?
She is not a big eater and will probably live off burger and chips and spaghetti - she is more worried about the cost of alcohol, she is going self catering.
Anybody have any tips for her??

How long is she going for?
Our family of 3 went to Paphos in May and took £1000. We still had a couple of hundred left after 2 weeks. We though had 3 course meals most nights with a bottle of wine and beers etc later. This was on a self catering basis.

Alcopops (imported) £3/4CYP
Lager £1.50 - 2.50 CYP
Most bars and clubs do offers like buy one get one free or free shots etc. Most clubs don't charge entry if they go in before 1am so she'll save on that. I tend to tell people to assume you were going out drinking every night at home and take the same amount of spending money for drinks.

I would say £500 will be enough, nothing worse than not having enough spends. Many years ago when i was 17 we went on a lads holiday to Benidorm, we ran out of money with 2 days to go, and we didnt have any visa cards. I am going to Protaras in September and wont have any change from £1000 for two weeks self catering.
