Carol, i am in the same boat, my daughter who is 18 is going on the 1st July for two weeks and never had a holiday abroad on her own.
I paid for the holiday, she is staying at the Tssokos Paradise Village in Nissi Beach Area on half board. I am giving her £500 sterling, and hopfully she will have a little more from work. She got worried when it converted back to about CY£350.
Does that sound about right?
Michelle.
Cazzie/Michelle,
If you take those drink prices as a rough estimate it should give you an idea....however it all depends on what you expect your girls to drink in an evening quantity wise
I think £500 GBP per week is about right as the nights don't tend to start until around 11pm for the younger crowd, so even if they go on until the early hours it's only the same as if being at home on a night out as they just start later. Most people buy drink from the supermarkets prior to heading out and have a few to set them up

Miss Chief
I was thinking £500 for two weeks, as she is half board, is that enough?
Thank you

Hi Michelle,
I think that's borderline for 2 reasons:
I've stayed at the Paradise Village and the food was ok
So assuming that then I'm sure they'll eat out occasionally
If you average 10 drinks a night at an average of £3CYP estimate then thats £30CYP a night x 14 plus with the exchange rate it will be about £500 GBP
So she might need a backup source just in case

Michelle. I have worked out the exchange rate using Marks and Spencers and she should get about 410 Cy pounds to £500 british so the 350 you mention seems a bit low.
Carol. I think she may need more than £500 especially if she plans on doing any beach activities or going on TO trips. My daughter usually spends about £700 for 2 weeks and that is Half Board. If she has a bank or credit card she should take it as back up. Karen

hello, do you think £1600 sterling will be enough for me and my boyfriend for 10 days in portaras bed and breakfast, august? we like to go on trips, eat out, have lots of mad nights and probably a 1 or 2 quiter nights. genrally just like to enjoy ourselves and do whatever we want and have whatever we want without having to worry about money.
i thought this would be plenty, but when converted its turns out to be something like 1300-400cyp? (cant quite remember what it was now as i worked it out a while ago, but think its something around this mark) having read some threads im now wondering if this will be enough, i have and still am saving all year to get to £1600 (the only reason its this figure is because thats what i will have managed to save by the time we go), but if i will need more then i will try to do some more shifts or cut back on stuff to try to get abit more spending money.
what do you think? thanks

This of course will depend on how you go through it! this cannot be answered here, but it certainly would be enough for me, at today's rate this would give you £1.385 CYP after exchanging your money from sterling to CYP..I could live here for two months on that, but then again I am an old plodder these days early to bed with a book, you could blow it in a few days trying hard to do this, but take it easy and you will be fine, take a bank card just in case..

hi jimbox, thanks for that, well we went to corfu last year for 2 weeks self catering and took about £1200-300 or something like that and spent the lot, well what we had left on the last day we brought prezzies and things, think we had about 200euros left, and we did and had whatever we wanted for the full 2 weeks. we had some mad nights out in kavos and also some quiter nights, so i think it sort of equals out, one day we could spend alot and the next not as much.
we will probably go on 1-2 trips depending what on offer and what takes our fancy, deffently want to go to famagusta and maybe 1 or 2 boat trips (which from what ive read dont seem too expensive) maybe a trip to the water partk. the rest of the time will be spent around the pool and on the beach, with maybe the odd stroll around the shops in town.
thanks x

Hi Linzi,
I was in Cyprus last year self catering. 14 days and £1200 was enough. I am a family man with 2 kids so we dont have the expensive nights out in the clubs but we do eat out everyday, visited the waterpark, went on a boat trip etc.
For 10 days I would have thought £1600 was plenty unless you eat in the top restaurants every night.
Do go to farmagusta it is very interesting.
Kind Regards
Stewart

Hi, we are two families that are going to be sharing a Villa in the Peyia area nr Coral Bay, we are planning a relaxing holiday, spending most our time round the private pool, and the bbq. Of course we are going to have to stock up on plenty ale, food, pop and sweets for the kids, can anyone give us any idea of how much each family will need for the 2 wks.
Also does anyone know where the closest supermarket is, where we can stock up, and that sells also british makes of food for the kids mostly

Linzi_lou,
£1600 should be fine for the 2 of you,we spend about that for 2 weeks hol, works out at about £85 a day and we stay b&b,okay on some days you go mad but you can't keep that up for 14 days, some days you just a couple of beers and something simple to eat others you want a nice meal with wine.
We always spend about that,we only tend to have one big holiday a year so want to be able to eat, drink whatever, whenever we fancy it!.

Hello folks.
Its been a few years since i last went to paphos but i remember it being relativly cheap when it came to drinks and some eateries.
Has this aspect changed much? We all like a drink and good food so i'm wondering what amount of spending money to take for October. We would probably do a few excursions and wont be out clubbing or anything like that. Good food and good wine is the way forward!
Anyone have any comments on this?

I live here so it is all relative as in any holiday destination it pays to know where to eat and drink, but you can still eat out for a tenner with drink, if you chose with care, eat where the locals eat if possible...
Prices have increased here as anywhere else in the world but I live here on a modest pension and I do not starve..pint of beer £1.50 anywhere, shorts with mixers about the same, of course you will pay more in hotels but only use them if needed..
Last night I had starters several dips with hot pitta bread, then Stifado and chips a huge plate of salad and three local gin and tonic's each, the cost for two was £19...plus a tip, now where else in the med do you get this kind of value? Bulgaria maybe but it ain't Cyprus there..
The Taverna was this one, Georges in Anavagos, photo taken on Tuesday evening..

Okay, I've been told off loads of people that Cyprus is a really expensive place to holiday. I noticed that in the price of the accomodation but I don't mind that.
We usually take £1000 away with us, will this be enough, there are two adults and one child, half board, hiring a car for 5 days and hopefully the speed boat snorkell trip. Oh and a few bevvies of an evening.

Heck that amount would do us for 5 holidays.
Two adults and two kids.
Two adults and two kids.
Just got back from 2 weeks self catering 2 adults and two kids with big appetites. We spent £1400 . That includes all food, drinks and other expenses but no car hire. Ate in restaurants every night with wine and a few beers in a bar later.
People were complaining it was expensive but I spent roughly the same as last year in the Canaries. Perhaps those people were unrealistic or had been some where very cheap before.

We have just returned from Paphos self catering (2 adults). I cooked breakfast but we ate out each evening. We do not have lunch. Did no trips but did hire a car for 5 days. Took £1000 and used card for another £150 and came back with 10p! I thought it was quite expensive. If you are going half board then £1000 should cover it.
